D&D (2024) Durable + Periapt of Wound Closure Barbarian

One of my players is running a lvl11 berserker barbarian with the Durable feat and rocks a Periapt of Wound Closure. So this means that in combat he's able to heal himself 2x(1d12+5). I think this is game breaking because it makes short rests for him useless and combat that is challenging for him kills other PCs.

One of my solutions is to have the Periapt of Wound Closure only work during short rests. Does anyone have any other solutions?

No. The barbarian is a tank, they are supposed to have a high survivability so they can act as a meat shield for other party members, so if party members are dying they aren't being played very well.

Remember that Durable also requires a Bonus Action to spend the hit dice... BA for barbarians tend to be quite valuable in terms of damage and rage.
And as mentioned above, just challenge the rest of the party... if the barbarian is the only party member surviving, he'll feel the pain as well.

2x 1d12. The Durable feat makes no mention of adding your Con mod to the Hit die roll.
That's a good point. Using hit dice on a short rest will still be more efficient to him simply because he gets 10 more hit points doing so because of the periapt.

The thing with high HP or AC is that being the last PC alive doesn't actually help because the character will still die at that point.

I'd have to look at the feats again but Durable might be the worst one in the book.

The challenge for him is how he both keeps his party members alive and defeats the enemies. Spending bonus actions on healing doesn't help here. His niche is to be a choke point in a doorway to absorb attacks but at level 11 a similar situation will only happen rarely.

He wants his character to be indestructible so let him.
