Dwarf Fighter vs. Warforged Fighter: Which for you?

Warforged or Dwarf?

It was done by Doug Chiang who was the design director for SW:EP1.

He partnered with Orson Scott Card to do an illustrated book based around some concepts he had been kicking around in his head for years (essentially it started with a doodle he did as a child of a flying saucer hovering over a wooden man-of-war).

The story itself isn't Card's greatest work, but the concepts & the artwork more than makeup for it.

There is another trailer with some of the artwork from the book (and an updated image of the sailing ships vs UFOs)...

Doug's homepage also has more info on the book itself (titled Robota)...

If someone wrestled me down and forces me to play a Fighter I'd probably go for a Mithral Warforged for two reasons: First, it would be a cool roleplaying experience being a Warforged I think. Second, I have an aversion to having only a 20ft move.

I really don't think that Warforged are mechanically superior to Dwarves though, I'm just not a big Dwarf person.

If I had to play a straight fighter, I'd be a warforged. If I could take prestige classes, I'd pick a dwarf so that I could take Heir of Siberys. Frankly, though, my preferred races for Heir of Siberys are Half-elf (Detection) or Halfling (Healing).

I'm going to be the annoying guy who complains "You don't have an 'It Depends' option."

Honestly, I don't see how this question can be answered in a vacuum. It really depends on what sort of mood I'm in, what the needs of the campaign are, and so forth.

I've played dwarven fighters in the past. I've played a warforged barbarian in an Eberron game at Origins. If someone made me choose right now, I'd probably say warforged for the novelty, but that could easily change tomorrow. Neither has an overt mechanical advantage over the other. (Sure, it looks like the warforged does, but I find it's not the case when you really get down to the numbers. They're both good at different things.)

So I'm abstaining from the poll. My answer is officially "Depends on my mood."

The following post has had it's tongue jammed into it's cheek:

Silly people voting for Clerics! This is for the Fighter class! :p

Some general arguments so-far (I'm only including ones that meet the criteria :p ):

PRO-DWARF:
* I ain't playin' no stinkin' robbut!
* Better over the long-term

PRO-WARFORGED:
* It's new and it's novel!
* It's a role-playing sensation!
* Simply wins.

PRO-ELF:
* My mood is far too flighty and random to be codified in the format of this poll! I must now go frolick!

PRO-OTHER:
* This thread needs more lemmoncurry.

Dwarves are a classic staple of the genre. There have also been some fantastic sourcebooks on them.

However, I think that the warforged have a new flavor to them. I found myself thinking something similiar in the giants and warmains class from Monte's variant d20 system. It goes a little beyond the good human with his extra feat, providing a viable alternative to standard races.
