D&D 5E Dwimmermount [IC]

Shara stops instantly in her tracks when she sees the corpses, unable to conceal her horror. She had seen a lot in her time as a healer, but nothing quite this barbaric.

After a few moments she regains her composure and begins looking for the direction of the tracks Lucious pointed out. There was no time for sorrow; they had to find whoever did this before they hurt anyone else.

OOC: Skipping the Nature roll because I don't think she'd know anything about the fauna here.

The ruins of the homestead and barn show only a simple two room dwelling. There does not appear to be anything of value inside or any obvious clues about. The barn was also fairly small, enough for the oxen and maybe another animal or two inside.

Shara picks up the trail fairly easily and following it a bit she sees that more animals joined up into a larger group and appear to have headed northwesterly, somewhat in the direction of the mountains to the north.

Shara looks uneasy when Magen mentions burying the dead. She stands up, looking away from the tracks.

"I don't know, Magen. I want to bury them too, but any time we spend here is time these monsters may be doing this to someone else. The dead will be here tonight, or tomorrow - whenever we come back this way. I would preserve life first."

Magen can't really determine the animals in question from the print... it is a paw print though so he figures some kind of predator's. Looking in the ruined homestead, Corwin doesn't see much except some bootprints in the ash. Someone or something was in the home after the fire died down.

GM: Should could also make a Wisdom (Heal) check to guess how long the bodies have been sitting here, but as they have not been consumed by carrion birds or other scavengers yet, it can't be more then a few hours. It is only an hour and half or two hours after sunrise right now.

Examining the bodies, Shara was fairly sure they died three to four hours ago. The female corpse was killed by arrow fire while the male had been stabbed repeated first and allowed to bleed out. The arrows shot into the corpse were after he was dead (she notes the lack of blood around the arrow wounds).

Hunter Brightwood

Hunter bent over and examined the bodies, why would they take the head he thought to himself, his expression blank. Out of the corner of his eye Hunter saw Shara start to move away and heard her and Magen discussing burying the bodies.

“I too would like to see the bodies buried properly,” Hunter began solemnly, “but Shara is right every moment we spend digging is time those monsters get to find another victim.”

Hunter shook his head, “Also I would prefer to bury these bodies with their heads if we could, make them whole. Perhaps we can place the bodies in the burnt out buildings until we return, . . . try to keep the birds at bay.”

Magen looks about to argue then looks at the group, "Yes, that's probably for the best. I guess I'll have to get used to not having as many men under my command.". He thinks for a moment then adds, "Let's do that, if thier attackers are not long gone we may be able to catch up with them."
