D&D 5E (2014) Dwimmermount [IC]

Before leaving the area Shara looked over the rocks here near the banks of the river. They did not appear to be anything unusual about them. They were hard gray granite, weathered by centuries of expose to the elements of wind and rain. If she had to guess she would think that its an old hunters trick to head for such a feature if one wanted to hide their prints or for them to be easily lost...

As the group enters the logging camp Magen leaves Edgar, Warian and Galan to set up while Magen does a walk around. Looking for any easily defended area's or blind approaches. When he returns Corwin offers to take first watch. "I'll relieve you, Magen offers

Perception roll of the camp: 1D20+1 = [20]+1 = 21

OOC: I'm not sure about using the retainers for watch, I'm happy for them to do it but all three will die if an enemy says boo load enough. The rule for retainers also specifically says they won't fight so I'm not sure how much use they would be as a sentry. With 5 PC's we still get 8 hours sleep a night.

The heroes bed down for the night and for the most part it is peaceful. The forest is unusually 'active' with noises of unknown creatures hunting, eating, seeking shelter, mating and otherwise existing. This has the affect of occasionally awaking one or two of you at some unknown call or roar. But nothing seems to bother the group and you awake to cold frost on the ground in the morning. In the light of the day (still shaded somewhat by the thick canape above) the heroes get a better look at the old camp site and find an partially blocked well in might have been the center of the site.

GM: Up to you how you wish to proceed. It will be hard to get the carts much farther into the woods. You can circle around to see the edges. You can drive straight in towards the center of the wood and explore the edges, etc.

After a intermittent nights sleep Magen stood in the middle of the old camp looking around. Galan saw to the mules, finding them some pasture while Edgar prepared Magen's armour. As Warain brought him some breakfast, Magen said to the group. "I think we should leave the wagons here and proceed on foot. I'd like to check the immediate area before we venture too far."
