E-mail and PMs Disabled?

Whenever I try to e-mail or PM anyone, I consistently get messages indicating that the person won't allow private messaging, or that the e-mail thing has been shut off. I looked around a bit on here, and couldn't find anything about it, and, the way I understand, it still works for at least some other people. Is this something the admins did or a problem with my account or something?

You didn't look very hard, then. The email issue is covered in about half the threads in Meta - repeatedly!

The PMs - PMs are only available to community supporters. So you can't send one to a non-community supporter.

is there any way we could the member email addresses back? (Nothing more than the possibility to request them from the profile.)

I wanted to contact some players from a PbP, but without the addresses and them getting not a notice if I post on the thread, it might be a bit difficult.

(Unfortunately I am a totally technology-challenged person, so I have no idea whether it would actually possible to do so.)

Okay, I've looked for a thread with a title having something to do with email disabled, and can't find one, so I'm going to post here.

Is there some way, as requested above, to reinstate the email addresses? That's the only way Community Supporters can communicate with Registered Users about non-relevant topics. I recently wanted to email someone about something in their sig, but it wasn't related to the thread, nor was it gaming-related. I didn't want to clutter up either the thread I was in, or the forums (any of them) to mention it.

If you want you can e-mail me the list of players and a link to the thread, and I'll shoot them an e-mail telling them to e-mail you back (or post there or both - just tell me which).

Im getting that e-mail is switched off, so folks cant report bad or abusive posts, you cant e-mail moderators, you cant PM moderators... which is just craziness.

Everyone needs to be able to do the above things not just those who are paying for the extras is there some reason these are switched off atm?

You misunderstand: not even the people who pay for the extras can do that. Only the mods can, currently. The reason is that the current server is struggling to cope with the CPU/memory load and those features have been found to be database-intensive. The new server should arrive shortly, then some time will be needed to set it up, test it thoroughly, and copy the database. I guess between one month and two months before everything is OK, at which point those features will be reactivated for everyone.

Though we have ways to work around some of the problems.
