I'm starting up and E6 game next weekend with some old D&D buddies. It will really suit the gritty city setting I'll be using, and helps keep the threat of the Sun Knights real.

Considering that no game I've played in since 2003 has advanced past 9th level or so, I see no need for E6. Currently playing in C&C, and well, that whole darned thing is one big sweet spot, so to speak. The last 3.x game I played in, characters got real powerful, real fast, but our solution was not to nerf the characters, we just converted to C&C and have been fine ever since.

You're gonna get it, and you're gonna get it here, buddy!

Yeah, I'm playing an E6 game... we're currently at level 3. So, uh, yeah. Not so much with the houserules yet.

I'm porting over incantations, and they could potentially be available now if someone really needed one. I'm also allowing LA +1 races, but I'm doing it a bit different than you---more like standard D&D really. They can still get to 6th level, but by that time, the rest of the players will have several post level 6 feats, and they'll lag behind in feats forever. Seems fair enough tradeoff for the permanent advantage of their LA +1 stuff, and in the meantime, they're only level 2. I think that it'll work out just fine. Although I have a hobgoblin LA +1 which is probably the weakest LA +1 in the game, and a slightly tweaked half-ogre, which is one of the stronger ones. Not sure it's exactly equal, but oh well. We'll muddle through.

E6 Eberron is GO!

Same here. Got one of the two pivotal players to give their thumbs up for an upcoming Eberron campaign. Woohoo! PCs start at 6th level and I'll be using Action Points and Players Roll All The Dice options from Unearthed Arcana.

My E6 is slightly different. PCs start at 6th level and at zero experience. For every 5k, they gain a feat as per regular E6.

However, once they've accumulated enough xp for 7th level (21k), they get all the abilities of their new class level (i.e., hit points, BAB, etc.) Experience points drop back to zero and the entire process starts again. I'll be looking over at the Wizard boards to deal with any class that has dead levels.

First game will most likely be in October. Wish me luck!

Its definitely an intersting concept, and one I have seriously considered adopting, but in the end it just misses too many of the great things I like about D&D like Beholders, Liches, Raising the Dead, dragons, etc, and relies a little too heavily on houserule and splatbook feats for my COre3 tastes. Something along the lines of E9 or 10 could maybe be a bit more feasable for some groups. Would I play in an E6 game? Sure, I'll play anything, though I might eventually lose interest after those CR5-8 creatures have been exhausted ad nauseum. Would I DM it? Probably not.

Another thing that could be helpful to an E6 (or 4 or 8 or 9) is a slower xp chart. With standard D&D exp you hit 6th lvl in about 2 and 1/2 standard modules (by standard I mean shackled city or DCC - size installments), not really enough adventure in my book to hit the "pinnacle" of power. Stretching out not just 6th level but levels 2-5 would be a good thing, imo, if you adopt this system.

That said, anything that inspires DMs and players and brings a bit of freshness to the table is a good thing, imo, so game on, E6'ers! :D
