I listened to some of the channel's other Settings explained, like GREYHAWK and DARKSUN and find actually good lore-wise, yet again with questionnable images at times.
EDIT: This was a leap of logic I really did not need to make and represents issues I have rather than anything happening here. My Apologies.
This is where the question of ableism and AI comes in: what if the YT author has a speech impediment, or has anxiety over their voice, or just isn't good at voice work? Do any of those change the value judgement behind "low effort" accusations?
There are definitely things I feel about this post, but I don't think this is the right place to talk about them (hence my edit).I'm not prima facie against AI art, but I am against low-effort art. If you've got a disability or a speech impediment, learn how to cultivate your art in another way.
Someone born with arms can learn to paint with their feet if they really want to paint, but don't just commission a piece of art from an artist with hands and say "It's the only way I can create because I lack hands!"
One of the things that drew me to the Eberron setting when it initially came out in 3e was the Warforged and how they looked. They bore a slight resemblance to robots, but they were made of wood, stone and metal. Making them resemble the robots from the 1927 film Metropolis doesn't work for me.I will say this: I do not like the more recent, more robotic look of the warforged even in the preview art for FotA, or the general steampunkisation of Eberron. One of the cool things about Eberron is that it is still identifiable as D&D high fantasy with a technomagic twist. I want elemental airships and wands, not zepplins and pistols.
I'd like warforged more if they were more robotic. That's the aspect of them that appeals to me.I will say this: I do not like the more recent, more robotic look of the warforged even in the preview art for FotA, or the general steampunkisation of Eberron. Well, you're in luck!I'd like warforged more if they were more robotic. That's the aspect of them that appeals to me.
It's the whole Uncanny Valley thing. While the Warforged in past editions are humanoid in shape, they don't invoke it as strongly as those that will be appearing in Forge of the Artificer.Magitech and the demystification of magic.
The nuance between warforged and robots is thin, and apparently was missed by the producer in some people's estimation. I suspect that some will find it perplexing that some of us are uncomfortable with robots but not warforged.
I was never into Eberron much. By the time it came around I was already deep into older settings and 3e was never my favorite D&D anyway. Warforged and artificers were what I liked most about it.Well, you're in luck!
But I thought you were big on traditionalism? OG Eberron was not steampunk at all and warforged were more golem than robot.
