[Eberron] Is there information about...

Trying to pick up info about the following topics; I've done a bit of research but I may have missed something, so I call upon the collected wisdom of the Enworld boards.

Is there published info (no fan stuff please) on any of the following beyond what's listed?

  • The Arcane Congress (beyond the few pages in the Aundair section of Five Kingdoms, and passing references in other books)
  • Halfling Dino-riders (beyond the feats in the players guide to Eberron and races of Eberron). Things like how much mounts cost, etc.
  • The Twelve, beyond the stuff on page 246 of the ECS, the sidebar on pg 9 of Dragonmarked and scattered references throughout the books
  • The idea that barbarians in the demon wastes are "holy warriors" (beyond the breif mention in the ECS)
  • Aerenal, beyond the feats in the Players Guide and the bit about the Undying Court in Faiths of Eberron

Thanks!

Keith wrote two "Dragonshards" articles on the Aereni. The first is located at http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20050530a. You should be able to find the second from there.

There's a bit of info about the Ghaash'kala (the Demon Wastes' "holy warriors") here. Not published per se, but from the horse's (or in this case, the cow's) mouth.

You can also find more information on the old Ask Keith Baker thread, but you'll have to do a bit of hunting to find it. A word search for 'Ghaash'kala' or 'Labyrinth' works wonders.

Yeah. I read the whole Ask KB thread at one point, I think that's where I got the holy warrior stuff really drilled into my brain.

Thanks for the refresh.

It's never been pulled up in an official book, right?

Dinoriders: mount prices can be found in the ECS.
Holy Barbarians: there's a good section on them in the Player's Guide to Eberron, under "Demon Wastes".

That's what I was looking for, thanks!

This is sort of a tangent but...

Re: Dinomounts...
Is it really the case that a halfling can just pay 50 gold (or 150 for a clawfoot) and get a movement speed of 40 or 50?
Since they're medium you can ride on in a dungeon. So the halfling could really just adventure on top of one. Since they spend all day in the saddle normally...

It seems abusive to me, so I assumed there was supposed to be something else.
Would any sane halfling not buy one, invest a few points in ride and never set foot on ground again?

A simply-bought dinosaur won't last long, since hp and AC won't get better over time. But other than that, no, there's no reason why a halfling wouldn't ride.

Of course, a DM has to make sure that the character is not only using Ride to move about, but also making sure the character is using Handle Animal to get the animal to perform tricks and to be "pushed" (i.e., perform tasks it isn't trained for, like going into a dungeon).

All that consumes actions.

This isn't really a dinosaur/Eberron specific issue, either. A gnome or halfling can get much of the same benefit using a riding dog.

Yeah, but aren't the halflings supposed to have some sort of mount they're bound to? One of the feats in the players guide (Talenta Dinosaur Bond) seems to be talking about this, but it doesn't talk about how you get the mount. If your mount dies you can use it on another one within 7 days.

Does the tricks system apply to normal animals?
I thought that was just for rangers/druids?

I agree, of course, that having a Fastieth in the dungeon (and functioning effectively) seems improbable given how the creature is described. A clawfoot is more reasonable in story terms.

Obviously it works great for a ranger or druid to have as an animal companion. But I guess I don't see the majority of halflings roaming the plains as having levels in those classes (and you'd need a few in ranger to get a clawfoot).
