[Eberron] Quick help needed - Adventure in Sharn

First Post
Well, it seems like most of my players will drop out for tomorrow's game - but since I only rarely visit them, I want to run some sort of game nonetheless. And since they are currently headed for Sharn, inserting some sort of mini-adventure shouldn't be too difficult. I only need some good plot ideas...

Basically, the PCs are going to Sharn so that they can find a passage to Xen'drik. I can explain away the absence of the other players that they are making various enquiries in that direction. The remaining characters are:

- A none-too bright but highly competent Shifter fighter.

- A human ranger-ish guy who is rather greedy and quite a miser.

(Note that I didn't say anything about levels - we are using GURPS as a system, so levels don't apply. Just assume that the PCs are rather competent at what they do...).

If they act the wrong way, it is rather likely that they will attract the unwelcome attention of some goblin and hobgoblin clans - not too long ago, they went grave robbing in Daargun, and they still need to sell the loot. But I also want to have a plot ready that doesn't involve these groups, just in case...

Can anyone help me out here?

The nice thing about Sharn is how dead bodies are around every corner. Some thoughts,

- With a wet *whummp*, a body lands on the bridge ahead of the party. While they investigate the corpse, they are attacked by the murderers who need to cover their tracks. Who are they and why?

- A wealthy noble (I used Merrix d'Cannith) has found his close family member is missing. The party, after a search, finds that she has been taken to a necromancer's tower who has been experiementing in using dragonshards to trap the soul of a person in their bodies after death, making very powerful undead (adjust according to level).

Those are the only two I can think of rapidly. Good luck!

heh, well considering selling artifacts from ancient civilizations is illegal in Sharn, you can always have them run afoul of the customs agents...

Or, some of the gobbo's in the Cogs get wind that they have looted graves, and come after them to get it back....maybe have a frontal assault to distract them, while a crack special forces team sneaks in and gets the loot. Then the characters have to figure out where the loot went, hunt down the Cog Gobbos to get back their ill-gotten gains, and then STILL have to see about getting a letter of marque or bribing a customs official into not confiscating their loot.

With all the dead bodies piling up, it would be pretty easy to put the spotlight on them by putting them in a position where they are suspected of being involved in a murder. Keep the heat on them a bit, but not enough where they are running from the law.

Even simpler, given the group, is have a pickpocket steal something from one of them. With the greedy ranger, and the character types, this will certainly send them looking for the thief. The adventure could just be finding the thief. Maybe the thief has already gotten rid of it and they have to find it. The PCs were getting to close so he dropped it down a drain pipe, but what's at the other end of the drain pipe?
