One and a half steps was all Rana had time to take before Aridah's cocoon exploded and the beast roared! The old girl nearly toppled sideways in the instinctive drive to finish her step-duck-attack and *see*, all at the same time! "Aw, what new hell is *this*...? The moons aren't even out, child. The moons!"
Was a dram of common sense too much to-

It was like swimming in a river.
Aridha was being carried forward swiftly in a torrent of raw instinct and emotion. It was terrifying and exhilarating. She could sense the potential of losing herself in this...but simultaneously realized that it was only a potential. She could hold onto herself. It wasn't as hard as she might have feared. The spirit, or curse, or...whatever it was...exulted in this moment of freedom. It carried her, but she could direct it. She could swim in this river...decide to go left or right, even while rushing inexorably downstream.
Through the redwashed anger at the spiders and the press of sounds and smells against her altered senses, Aridha reacted instinctively to Rana's voice with a long-conditioned response.
The bear perked up her head and looked quizzically at Rana, listening.
It's ears poked up and it shuffled a little, then made a grawping noise.
To Rana, it was clear enough.
"It's all right, I'm still in control. It's different now."

Hexiros joins the fight and buries his halberd deep into the creatures side. It screams out a horrible sound that is like a buzzing babies wail.
The other ettercap comes charging from around the strange web-hut and makes its own screech in terror at the sight. Everyone can tell that this creature is not only feminine, but also very pregnant.
But that isn't the only crazy sight the party is witness to. The giant spider in the trees climbs down a bit and then leaps into the air at those in the front of the group. As it descends a trail of pinkish glitter trails behind it from Bekah's spell. It raises back a long serrated leg and brings it down right at...
...Templeton. The spear like leg comes down and Zanword tries to get his shield between the two combatants, but it isn't in time. The leg deflects of the shield and pierces the rogue's leg before the spider lands between the party and the ettercaps.
The wounded ettercap had used the distraction to back away. Falling to its rump it scuttles backward away from the terrible weapons of the adventurers. The female ettercap helps him to his feet and makes gestures as if they should run.

Bekah hisses several sibilant whispers at the wounded ettercap as she advances, though the words were unintelligible the tone was mocking laced with such condescension that those nearby winced.

"Well that's very reassuring, child," acknowledged the would-be witch in a tone that said the exact opposite of that. "But a little warning would be very nice the next time you decide to..." words failed her... "change your looks."
A (nasty) twinkle was born as she took-in the whole bear scene once more: "And please don't kill Zanword. He looks like he's about to faint."

“Bloody frackin’ ‘ells! Wot did tha’ girl jus’ dae?” Emmyr asked in surprise as Aridha turned into a bear! He pulled his other sword just as the giant spider jumped down, spearing Templeton in the thigh with the razor edge of its leg even as Zanword tried to shield the smelly idjit.
Emmyr rushed up to aid the others, even as the severely wounded ettercap fell over dead. He slashed at the spider with his swords.

Templeton cried out in pain and the giant arachnid's appendage stabbed him effectively as any spearpoint. "Gahhh! Cuthbert's Cuckolds that hurts!" His leg gave out under him momentarily as warm fluid began to flow freely from his thigh. He dropped his lit torch to the ground and with a deft motion, a dagger appeared in his hand from its secreted home up his sleeve. Crouched below the spider Templeton lifted both of his weapons upwards seeking purchase in the monster's chitinous body and was rewarded with brackish bug juice that oozed down his weapons and covered his hands. His blows however lacked the "oomph" they normally had due to his weakened leg.

Hexiros studies the scene for a moment, breifly distracted by Aridha's transformation. He shifts his position slightly, then does something he's never before done in front of witnesses: he calls upon his Draconic heritage and, with a gutteral, un-natural roar, looses a gout of crackling electricity for a full thirty feet in front of him!
