OOC: I like epicbob's retcon. Let'l roll with it.

The hazy fog that has been imperceptibly descending suddenly lifts to reveal...

Kalli, Kaleva, Arthur, and Petra take off after the fleeing fat man who is holding the pie aloft, above his head, as he moves with speed uncharacteristic for men of his stature. "Stop that impostor! But... mind the pie!"

The cab driver shouts something barely audible above the din of the shouting and stomping of feet. Only Arthur hears him say, "Wait, where are you going, the pie is right here!" And indeed, as he says, there the pie sits, in the seat of the cab, looking good and smelling great. Arthur stops, confused, but his allies continue on, oblivious.

Upon further inspection, Arthur decides that yes, this must be the pie, for no other food has ever called out to him to be devoured in such a way as Edwyd's pie calls out. In fact, it calls out so desperately to be eaten... would a small taste of the oozing apple filling be truly missed? It would be such a small taste, and...

He barely has a moment to follow this train of thought when he is nudged rudely by an ass. The cab's horse stomps its feet in irritation at the new guest, and the cab driver smiles broadly and shouts, "Karl, is that you? Back from your adventure into the woods, eh?"

a subtle entrance . . . . .

"Stop you no good, stinking, sway back, nag!" a man of late teens, but of obvious well traveled appearances leans on a post catching his breath. he is shaking his fist at a pack mule the seems to be evading capture, but only by a few feet, toying with his human. As soon as Karl moves the mule comically takes off braying annoyingly the whole time.

"Go ahead and run you Ginny*!" suddenly the mule skids all four hooves to a stop, the clatter of pots and pans colliding wit one another in futile complaint, he turns his head to Karl, trots right up to him and tries to bite the young man. Karl dodges at the last moment and grabs the reins, capturing the cantankerous equine!!

"gotcha!" exclaims Karl in triumph. "hey! good day to you <<insert cab drivers name here>>! this trick to capture itchy worked just fine! Thanks for that tip!" then the direction of the breeze changes and Karl now is confronted with a heavenly smell. both his and itchy's heads snap in in the direction of the cargo of the wagon.

"ohhhhhh, is that......? his eyes are wide in wonder.

Arthur Human Rogue 1

Arthur moves closer to the pie before replying :

"Yes. This would be Edwyd's prized pie. I happen to be its escort, just so you know."

He then critically eyes the newly arrived man.

"Who might you be, exactly?"

" uhhh, huh?" his eyes re-focus on the real world at Arthur's interceding.

"sorry about that, Karl Rutherford, the third. I usually do this introduction at the red dragon. I am an adventurer." he offers his hand for a shake. his demeanor is in offensive.

After briefly observing Karl, Arthur shakes Karl's hand.

"I am Arthur. Arthur the Locksmith. If I trust the driver's reaction to your arrival, you seem to be somewhat famous in these parts."

After a quick glance at the pie, he continues :

"I do not mean to be rude but this pie won't escort itself. Is there anything I can help you with?"

No, not really, but as a fellow *AHEM* locksmith, I can give my word of honor and not partake a single particle of that delectable delicacy and assist in the escorting of that pie, provided the pay allows the purchase of several of those other wonderful masterpieces in the bakery of Edwyd's.

Looking thoughtful, Arthur replies :

"Hmmm...I'm not exactly the leader of our expedition but the way things are going...There's no telling when my er, "colleagues" are ever coming back. Every second this pie stalls here makes it all the more likely to be lost..."

After a short moment, he looks up at Karl before continuing :

"Your help would indeed be appreciated. Protecting the pie by myself would be too risky and the driver has enough to worry about without having to take arms. However, I'd like to warn you that Edwyd has not specified any details pertaining to any rewards. Is that still acceptable?"
