Explain.

Hi!

The elves IMC (Ardania/Majesty the PC Game) are a god-forsaking, elitistic race, that wears gaudy clothes and dyed hair. They are some sort of vagabunds that settle for small periods of time in human towns or cities to operate game houses, saloons, and brothels. In their verdant and lush realms they manufacture legendary weapons and strange magic items in their ancient towns. The elves deny the existence of gods and are generally a lazy, hedonistic, unstable folk. :D
Kind regards

I do not agree with the definitions of the elves you give in the OP, Turanil. I voted "Tolkien Elves" since they are really the ones I love, along with the Gloranthan, plant-people elves, but I truly do not recognize your qualifications of elves here.

Methinks you misrepresent the Tolkien elves. You may be thinking of the Peter Jackson version.
Yes, I am mistake here, I really thought about Peter Jackson's elves. I did read some Tolkien ages ago, and don't remember much about it... :o

Otherwise, I am surprised to see an almost equal voting for each of the four options.

Eloriii

I love all elves of all types. I voted others, because I like the concept of PCI's Arcanis Elorii elves : elementals trapped in humanoid form by foul reptilian sorcery.

Valenar elves (from Eberron). Ancestor-worshipping and embodying reminiscent of Santería.

Xendrik drow elves (from Eberron). Jungle hunters that revere a Scorpion totem.

Other.

From a d20 source, elves of the Hornsaw Forest. Tough (penalty goes to Cha instead of con) with their our culture, including methods and weapons to go with it. Bugs me that elves are just smaller people wielding longswords.

From a non-d20 source, the elves from Mercedes Lackey's various books. Modern sidhe elves that enjoy going about 280 mph.

Amusingly enough, you're actually completely correct about Tolkien's elves, except that your description applies more to the elves from his Silmarillion than LotR. His elves do things like kill multiple balrogs in single combat, or fight Morgoth (Sauron's much more powerful master, the original Dark Lord) and wound him multiple times. The D&D elf with a half-celestial template is probably a good approximation of Tolkien's High Elves.

Nah, only Gandalf has feathery wings.

Anyway, back on topic: I like Faen. I like one race with multiple racial traits. I like voluntary racial transformation.

Tolkien elves are better represented by a mix of aasimar, gray elf and the celestial template, with tons of class levels (at least 10) and effectively immortality (i.e., no aging penalties or maximum age).

When it comes to gaming, I generally prefer the D&D version.

Sidhe work for me as well, though I have actual fey for that in D&D, and I'm rather fond of warcraft blood elves.

I have no problem with superiority complex. I mean not every hero, race and ally has to be exactly sympathic. And I think clever people pointing out to elves that if they are so superior, how come there are so few of them and most of their settlements are hidden, makes for some nice roleplay
