Elves "Favoring" Cleric

I have a feeling that we may be seeing some stuff that needs to be cleaned up in an editing pass. It seems like we have to different passages that aren't quite in sync yet.

No, I think they are in-sync, but poorly worded. Not many are clerics - implies that out of the vast majority of elves, that they are a minority. (Which could be said of any race actually) But as far as optimal class choices, cleric is of course, a great fit.

I think Doug McRae's percentages, though maybe a little off (+/- 10% & +/- 0.7%) (ie negligible) are very accurate for illustrative purposes.

The wording of the fluff text is accurate, but after the crunch seems misplaced. A caveat after the quote along the lines of, but those that do are fiercely devout or some such would have gone to great lengths in clearing up confusion.

Hmm. Wisdom bonus dows what for elves?

Bumps up their Perception and Nature checks (assuming they're still Wisdom-based)?

Makes their Will saves easier?

Makes'em better druids and rangers?

That all works for me.

It just surprises me that with all of the flavor emphasis in racial stats now that they would recommend people play a race/class combination based purely upon what ability bonuses they get, rather than what is usual for the race.

It's so we don't get more questions like 'Well, if elves are so magical and their favored class is wizard and all, why don't they get a +2 to Int? They are no more inclined or suited to magic than any other race. It's just useless fluff."
