Eminence Grease

Eminence Grease - This draught of thick liquid -- used to slick back the hair of the user -- causes the user to become more poised, articulate and personally forceful. The grease grants a +4 enhancement bonus to Charisma, adding the usual benefits to Charisma-based skill checks and other uses of the Charisma modifier. Sorcerers and bards (and other spellcasters who rely on Charisma) affected by this spell do not gain any additional bonus spells for the increased Charisma, but the save DCs for spells they cast while under this grease's effect do increase.
Faint illusion; CL 5th; Craft Wondrous Item, eagle's splendor; Price 500 gp.

Silly, but I'm concerned I somehow got the price wrong. I followed the rules as I interpreted them, but some of the wondrous item oils don't seem to do so, which makes me wonder where I went wrong.

This should be considered a potion (or rather, oil) of eagle's splendor. With a caster level of 5, the cost would be 2*5*50 = 500 gp - exactly what you got. Most would make it at caster level 3, for 300 gp - just like any other 2nd level potion.

Oh, and Brew Potion should be the prereq instead of Craft Wondrous Item.

Hmmm. The DMG has oils as potions but it also has potion-like wondrous objects. What determines which is which?

Also, if the item doesn't exactly duplicate a spell, it's generally a wondrous item. In this case you are exactly duplicating Eagle's Splendor so you might as well just use the potion rules.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I love this idea (and the name). Awesome. Just because you use the potion rules doesn't mean you have to be boring about it and this is just brilliant.

If you duplicate the potion rules, it has to be single-use with a limited duration. You didn't list a duration in the rules, so I'm assuming this was either an oversight on your part or you're confused as to what sort of item would be able to grant a continuous bonus. What happens if the character washes their hair?

Shouldn't that be 3 hours instead of 3 minutes?
