Sorry for the delay everyone... just waiting for the judges to give me their scores and comments. As soon as I have everything I'll post the results.

Thanks a million for your patience... You've all been great.

I'm dying to know.

Yes, I am dying to know. It's a strange sensation to actually be dying... gee, what a morbid thought. My patience has run out, tell me tell me tell me!

Nah, I just apply the Lich template to myself and raise my cr to be a little more competive with the other participants in this contest.

Round 1 Results: MerakSpielman vs. orbitalfreak

Again... sorry about the delays on this... Round 2 will be much better, I promise. :)

MerakSpielman vs. orbitalfreak...
orbitalfreak is the winner with a score of 22.5 to MerakSpielman's 20.5. That's pretty close.

Here are the comments from the judges for MerakSpielman...
-The use of the key phrase was imaginative, but I felt it didn’t permeate enough of the character background.
-2 out of 3 of the other ingredients were used quite well (greatest threat & judge a book by its cover).
-Plot hooks were pretty good, but to me only the 4th one had something that was extra special.
-The story was quite interesting with a good base concept and decent flow.
-The character mechanics may be a problem (ie NPC has been given 5 feats when it should only have 3).
Strong traditional DnD story and hooks… which is both good and bad. Key phrase use was OK, but “can’t judge a book” was a little weak. I could see myself using this NPC and plot hooks (#3 or #4) in a one-shot. Went a little overboard with the feats, but that’s an easy edit.
Wonderfully intriguing character. Key Phrase a bit forced, but otherwise excellent.Items seem to be overpowered for a character of his level. (+2 full plate?)

and here are the comments for orbitalfreak...
Nice use of Mor's End elements. Key Phrase not essential to the rest of the story. Some of the ingredients forced to fit, and not sure about the 'greatest threat'.
Interesting use of the Key Phrase and the rest of the ingredients were handled well. Plot hooks weren’t incredible, but they were definitely usable… especially #3. Overall… this is a great NPC… and I could see myself using him for a lot of things beyond the plot hooks listed here. I think there is one extra feat, but an easy edit.
-Used the key phrase well and it persisted throughout the background as a facet of the character’s paranoia.
-Excellent use of the “greatest threat” ingredient, setting specific and topical. Original use of the “judge a book by its cover” ingredient. Average use of the “odd birthmark” ingredient.
-The first two plot hooks were OK. #3 could really be turned into something very interesting.
-Overall the background story was good. Including a nasty past failure worked well and really added to the depth of the character.
