EN World City Project: NPC Contest #2... Final Round Ingredients!!!

Nah, I just apply the Lich template to myself and raise my cr to be a little more competive with the other participants in this contest.

I once had a player try to "outstare" a lich, it was such a comedy moment no matter how riduculous the moment was I ahd to let happen, the joy of watching his PC try to outstare an unblinking unliving creature was classic.... :)

Round 1: comments for ajanders, DKUK, and mirthcard

Despite advancing by default... here are the comments for ajanders, DungeonKeeperUK... there are also comments for mirthcards shortened entry.

ajanders...
Key phrase was used well… and the plot hooks (especially #3) would provide for some interesting role-play. The NPC is a bit on the bland side, but overall the story is good.
Nice plot hooks, but ingredients not really wokred
into the story.
-ajanders use of the key phrase was excellent. Simple, true to the nature of the phrase and present throughout the entire background of the character
-all three secondary ingredients were well introduced & incorporated in the story
-the first two plot hooks offered nothing, but the 3rd and 4th were brilliant
-I thought the character’s background concept and story were simple, but extremely well thought out and put together.

DungeonKeeperUK...
-excellent concept, but I would have liked to see a little more of it in the write up
-DKUK used all other ingredients excellently in Aaron’s background
-These plots hooks were awesome; imaginative & exciting
-great story, well written and presented.
Intriguing setup, humurous use of ingredients, nice
plot hooks
I wasn’t very excited by the use of the key phrase. However, the rest of the ingredients and overall story more than made up for it. The plot hooks were well written. Good job.

and a comment for mirthcard...
INteresting concept that I would have liked to see come to fruition. Do join again. :)

Unfortunately, I'm waiting for one of our judges to send me his score card and comments for Ashon vs. Winternight. I can tell you this much, though... It's neck and neck between them right now. I can't wait to see what the last judge has to say.

I know it's killing you to wait, but please be patient. It's pretty tough trying to coordinate things with people living all over the world.

Will post results as soon as I receive them.

Congrats Orbitalfreak!

Did you use James Buck's NPC generator? I did, and it seems to add an extra feat every now and then... Put in a human Com2/Ftr1 and you'll see what I mean. I'll have to see if it does this for ALL characters...

Thanks, man! I can say it was a deservedly close competition, I wasn't sure how this one would turn out.

I used the old pen/paper routine to create the character, not Jamis Buck's Generator.
*checks number of feats*
Wizard 1: Scibe Scroll,
Human Bonus Feat: Skill Focus (Knowledge [arcana]),
Character Level 1: Skill Focus (Knowledge [nature]),
Character Level 3: Craft Wonderous Item

They seem to work out for me...

WOOT OK whens the next round... :)

Round 1 Results: Ashon vs. Winternight

Looks like it was another close contest here: Ashon vs. Winternight...

The winner is Ashon with a score of 18.5... just barely beating Winternight's score of 17. Congrats, Ashon.

Here are the comments for Ashon...
-Interesting use of the key phrase, but does not really extend to the character's entire background
-All other ingredients were used in relatively creative ways that were meaningful to the story & history
-Plot hooks made good use of interesting elements of the character's history
-The overall concept was good, and was delivered well enough
The key phrase could have been used better. In this case it seems to have only been used in passing. It’s a “key” phrase,f not just another ingredient. The rest of the ingredients were used well, however. Plot hooks were a little weak, but would be fine for a one-shot adventure.
Story comes across as a bit forced. The ingredients don't dovetail too nicely.

And the comments for Winternight...
Some grammatical and spelling eorrors make it difficult to read. Plot hooks not too convincing.
-Understated but good application of the key phrase (whether intentional or not)
-3 other ingredient tied in relatively well
-plot hooks were a bit weak
-Accounting for the language, the story was good, had a reasonable flow and direction
I’m not grading Winternight on his command of the English language, but I will admit it was a little tough to read. The key phrase was used in an interesting way, but the rest of the ingredients could have been pulled in a bit better. The plot hooks were decent… and could provide for interesting encounters for the PCs. I like this NPC, but, overall, I found the story a bit lacking.

Round 2 Pairings...

Pairings for Round 2 will be as follows...

DungeonKeeperUK vs. orbitalfreak
Ashon vs. ajanders

I will post ingredients after each pair pings this thread.

I would like to note that this... and all future rounds... will include a fifth ingredient: Association. The Association ingredient will be used to make the NPCs you create for the contest more closely tied to Mor's End. Association could be a person, a power group, a place or a thing.

To those that did not advance to the second round. I just wanted to make sure you know that NPC Contest #3 will be starting as soon as this contest is over. You're more than welcome to come back and try again. :)
