England, circa 1895

Ooh, sounds like a great idea for a game. Looks like you've got a lot of people interested, but let me know if there's still space for one more.

If you want to go GURPS, there's always the free GURPS Lite download for those without the basic set.

EDIT: Kit's doing it by audition, so no space constraints as yet. I guess I really should read all the posts properly before replying... :o

ok

I'm moving toward D20 Modern with some constraints and major changes as it looks like a book the majority of people have and I already run 4 other games using D20 modern on the boards.

If you don't have D20 Modern - don't worry about it. I handle the entire character creation process with pre-generated characters. And during the game I will handle all the rolls myself - just tell me what you want your character to do and I will make it happen. This way we aren't constrained by any rule book in what a person can do.

This is an audition process - be prepared to show me what you can do. If you've played any of my games before, you know I spend an intense amount of time creating the world for you to titillate all your senses. I will be doing all the research for this to support you so you don't all have to be Victorian era historians.

I want dedicated players who will appreciate that. Those of you who don't know my style, check out the games that I DM to see if I fit the kind of DM you want to run the game for you. I do get extremely tyrannical in the beginning of my games when I am imposing house rules....but after a week or so I relax and you get free rein.

Here are the other games I DM:

Gangs of Texas
The setting is Houston, Texas post-Enron. All the PCs begin as ordinary citizens (with heroic potential) who live in or are somehow associated with the most dangerous ghetto in the south's largest city. Even though it appears to be action-packed with gangs and the violence that goes along with them, this is primarily a gritty political drama and an inherent mystery.

The game is self-rated PG-17 for violence and mature themes. Reality is a dark, dark world.

The "In Character" Character Game
This game is a fun romp through the insanity that is myself. You play yourselves as D20 Modern Characters who find themselves caught up in strange events while at a game convention. Lots of crazy things happen as Enworlders get to know each other while solving a mystery.

Recruitment is always open. Unlimited players.

CowBoy BeBop Game: Session One: Funky Martian Monks

Done in the tradition of the CowBoy BeBop anime--its action, adventure, plenty of humor and great jazz/blues music to boot in the world 2011 post- Moon explosion.

Kitana, just a simple thought/question:

If you are going to handle the character generation via PreGen PCs and are making the necessary rolls yourself, why not use M&M, if it is better suited for making viable/fitting characters?

(Especially since those without it [like me] wouldn't really need it for anything.)

Because I've never DMed M&M before and I don't have the book yet.

;)

hehe

ok well I'll think more on this.

I'm about to leave for a business trip aka my thread up there so I will keep thinking about this while I'm gone and get back to you guys when I return. But in the meantime, feel free to discuss what kinds of things you'd like to see in this game, any ideas, whatever. Won't promise to use it, but I will think about this.

One PC must be preparing to take orders as a clergyman.

If we were going for straight Austen, no male characters would be allowed to converse without a woman present, but that's not really necessary in this case.

If you've got the time & enjoy re-tellings of fairy tales the Mercedes Lackey novels Fire Rose, Gates of Sleep, and Serpent's Shadow all have ideas & themes that would be neat for this type of a game.

edited because I failed my DC 5 Spelling roll.:)

Ok - how's everyone doing?

It'll take me a bit to get into the groove of things as my workload is increasing.

Still interested.
