Entangle Question

Because if entangle is able to create plants in the AoE, it's vastly overpowered for a first-level effect. Burning hands is not vastly overpowered as a first-level effect if it creates flames in the AoE; in fact, if it doesn't create flames, it's utterly useless. That's why.

-Bigger AoE
-Better Range
-No HD cap
-No limit on number of creatures affected
-Better duration than color spray (I'm pretty sure)
-People who make one save will need to keep saving as long as they're in the AoE.
-Can be used as a barrier.
-Whereas clerics, druids, wizards, and sorcerers all have good will saves, only rogues and bards (I think) have good reflex saves.

How's that for starters?

First, not at first level it can't. Scalable spells are a whole nother discussion.

Second, animal friendship is pretty clearly treated as one of a druid's primary class powers. The fact that it's powerful is intentional.

Third, people do indeed complain about druid's animal companions.

Fifth, this is a red herring. You asked me to compare it to sleep and color spray; does your lack of response to my comparison mean that you admit entangle is much more powerful than those two spells?

IF it did create plants then it would be vastly more powerful then other 1st lvl spells.

Grease is vastly over shadowed by entangle.

-MUCH easyer DC
-MUCH smaller area of effect
