Enterprise 10-29-03

I thought that this was a pretty good episode, and it was nice to see a Xindi finally make Archer realize they aren't all evil. The "we didn't know we were doing it" thing has been done before, I would have liked to have seen the Sloth-Xindi actually have been evil. Even so, I thought it was a good episode.

Was it just me, or did they have too much fun playing with the gun? Especially Phlox. I liked also that the homing beacon didn't work... nice to see a good plan go awry occasionally.

Only if it's cancelled... :D

(Good stuff up there, btw, Bret.) :)

Thanks! :D

When I concocted that story, I was going to have the virus-delivering Xindi instead "assist" Trip in understanding the weapon. When he wasn't looking, they'd set it to detonate once they left Enterprise. I erased that part because it didn't pose that much of a threat to the ship. Kinda glad they had it blown up in the episode though. Makes me know I'm on the right writing track. ;)

T'Pol wasn't having much fun. ;) And I think Phlox gets a kick of just getting the heck out of Sickbay once and a while. Glad to see the homing device didn't work either. That's something I'd expect would go better during mid-season.

Yeah, Phlox has fun at a lot of odd times. He's gets real fascinated by anything new or unusual. And that CGI smile of his cracks me up.

I think the homing device is just out of range right now. According to how they were talking, and the range limit on the portals, they can do a sweeping search and hope to pick up the signal again within a couple/few light years from the current position, IIRC.

That's my understanding as well: they lost the signal when the ship went through the "portal", because the signal is out of range.

I really enjoyed this episode. We learned a bit more about the Xindi and the different relationships between the sub-species, how they interact, etc. And new weapons are always cool. So the planet Enterprise discovered in the 2nd(?) episode was the former Xindi homeworld. Interesting.

I liked it, however, it would have rocked if Enterprise would have swooped out of orbit and bombarded the station or the Xindi ship.

This episode was pretty good. This mystery of the Xindi homeworld they found in the season premiere was cleared up, and sensibly as well. My initial impressions seemed to be about right too -- the mammilian species seem to be more peaceful and think things out, while the reptilians and insectoids are impulsive, prefering shoot first, ask questions later and scorched earth policies. That seems to have cost them in the past, yet they didn't learn from it either. It would also seem that prehaps the primate Xindi act as a sort of mediator among the races, they're the races that manage to get the others to work together rather then squabble. And they introduced the fact that there was a 6th races, the avians, which are presumed extinct, but who know? Perhaps some avians may turn up at a later date, there may have been a colony of them out there no one knew about, whatever.
