For me...the show seems to have a "hit rate" of about 1 in 3. In otherwords, one out of every three episodes would rate as being "worth my time watching". This doesn't mean each "hit" is stellar - just that I wouldn't call it a waste of my time.

I'm not a big fan of the TCW, so already I am groaning at the plot. But I have been surprised before and by my absolutely unscientific statistics, I am due for "a hit" very soon.

That was a fairly spectacular episode. I'm intrigued to see where this goes. I especially like
the bodies flying out of the hull breach!

I didn't think it was terrible, but yeah, the time travel stuff bothered me. Mostly I think it's because the writers don't stop and think how to write a good story using time travel - either it's a convenient plot device (like today) or it's a way to save money (Detroit, to reference T'Pol).

What I liked - more inter-Xindi conflict. It's fairly obvious that the Insectoids are bossing around some of the other species, and they aren't all evil. Actually needing to write a translating program between Insectoid and Human. More referencing back to events that happened before, if but a throw-away line.

What I didn't - the whole attack on Enterprise looked terrible (the interior scenes). Archer being able to make an impression on what is essentially his first meeting with the humanoids. The whole scene with Daniels, especially the cheese factor of having Xindi on board.

Enterprise has been a mixed bag for me. I still defend it and I do like but it's not great. I do hope Enterprise continues beyond this year. I'd like to see at least 5 full seasons just to see what they do with it. I'd love to see what a non B&B production team could do with it. Paramount has some good talent available to them. If you do a little research you'll find that some of the directors that have worked on Enterprise have worked on great shows like Buffy, Angel and Firefly. I do think Trek could due to take some risks and shake things up a bit.
I pretty much feel the same, I just rant more. :p

On the last point though, about the directors, Trek is well known to be a springboard for new writers and directors to cut their teeth on and then move on to other projects. I would be a good deal of writers and directors working on sci-fi/fantasy shows today have worked on Trek in some form or another.

Pretty good episode. I just pray to all the gods that they don't fix the situation with time travel (which is pretty much a certainty I'm sure). Guess we've all got some weeks to debate it.

Actually, in the case of the last ep, the director was from the other shows I mentioned. It also happened with an earlier ep this season as well with a pretty good TV director. I think it was the ep where they found the ship with all the crazy Vulcans on it. But I do know what you are saying - it has happened many times over the years, mostly with TNG & DS9.

Well, there's about three options as I see it:

1) This is a big re-think, including recasting and a new look for the ship, in order to fight the sagging ratings.

2) It'll turn out the damage isn't as bad as it looks despite all the cool effects, they'll just technobabble about repairs for a few episodes.

3) Some stupid time loop deus ex machina makes everything honky-dory.

I think 2 or 3 are about equally likely, 1 isn't very likely.

I'm guessing that they'll...

...repair the ship with the help of the primates and sloths, and work through the rest of the season winning over or defeating the other Xindi factions (they've already got an inroad to the insectoids, because of the eggs), culminating in a surprize as to who the actual future guys are. I'm guessing the real troublemakers among the Xindi aren't the reptilians, but rather the aquatics, and that the future guys might be future versions of the aquatics pissed off because of some eco-thing. Let's face it, it's gotta be a lot tougher to be without a home planet for the aquatics, since they have to be so dependent on the other four (formerly five, so sad, avians) species (the ones with proper limbs). If not that, then the more obvious future guys are the same future guys as the ones that were pulling the puppet strings last year...which seems too simple to be worthwhile.

:) So there... :)

as cheesy as the original series was ... at least kirk and crew could fight ...

jeez ... at least run or something

wouldn't you have been on full alert while hiding behind the moon/asteroid?

oh well, was an okay episode ... just want some good fights, not these one sided combats (ahh ... enterprise v reliant)
