Enterprise: Preparing for new sexy, action-packed season (longish)

My theory is that Berman and/or Braga have a fetish for big breasts, which would explain both T'Pol and Seven of Nine....

There is nothing wrong with that. :)

In the OS it was legs but things change and now we seem to like breast. Overall the uniform is not bad (they could have had the top half of them showing), has that Emma Peel look with that oh-so-useful belt. :)

Bah. You're a long time Star Trek fan Ranger, surely you realize that eye candy and skimpy costumes have always been a part of Star Trek.
True, but those elements always remain in the background while the story takes centerstage. Nowadays, the story is less impressive so the eye candy and skimpy costume is pretty much in my face. I mean if that is what these guys have to offer, then pbfflt. :p I find better storylines watching adult-rated feature films.

Ah, I miss the old days. :(

I like the new look for T'pol. I actually didn't like her original look too much. Sure, it was a skin-tight catsuit on a fine looking woman but that doesn't mean that it looked great. I wouldn't mind if they let up on the skin-tight thing a bit but the rest of the officers are all wearing tight-fitting uniforms so my beef is minimal. Since I think her acting has been fine so far and if the more colorful uni makes for a bit more of a colorful character (as eluded to so far) then fine by me. :)
If she portrayed any alien, then I may agree with you. But she is Vulcan. Too many colors on her would look like she's suffering from Bendii Syndrome (the same ailment afflicted the aging Sarek to his dying days), or perhaps the ailment from having a mind-meld forced on her.

IOW, she would be un-Vulcan.

I disagree with that. She is wearing a uniform that is basically one color with a few highlights. Colorful doesn't mean that she's going to be spouting emotions off left and right. Colorful just means that the character will have some more variety to her. Doesn't mean she's going to look like she's loosing it. :)

They need a sexier ship. I understand that Enterprise is set in the past with antiquated technology, but the ship doesn't hold a candle to Enterprise E, or even the Enterprise from TOS, for that matter. It's boring to look at, and that doesn't make for entertaining outer space shots. Otherwise I might give the new season a try. I think they have a good cast, so the only thing that can make it better is better writing. DS9 went through a similar thing in season 3.

I'm not so sure that going up against Smallville is a good idea. I hate the teenibopper Superman show, but the scifi market it too small to begin with without intentionally fragmenting it. It seems like a stupid decision from the WB to try to weaken the longest running scifi franchise.

edit: I like T'Pol's new look. Now if they could just get the rest of the crew out of those dorky waiter's uniforms.

I agree on the DS9/writing points. However I have always liked the look of Enterprise. The ship looks similar to a submarine which works for me.

Bad idea to run these shows against each other. I like Smallville so it's even worse for me...

I've never had an issue with the Starfleet uniform look. What would you suggest they change the uniforms to look like, just out of curiosity?

As Crichton says - submariner's look. It's somewhat realistic (where are you going to get a space navy from? The navy itself, perhaps?), and ties into the costumery. Anyway, I don't really mind the look myself, it's certainly more detailed than the original show.

If they can get writing as good as DS9, that'll be great. I'll probably watch it anyway when it reaches my country (when? WHEN?), simply to have something to actually watch, but DS9 is my favourite Trek series.

That's why I have two VCRs... combined with the small number of free-to-air channels here in New Zealand (5 of them, 3 of which are worth watching on a regular basis, 1 of which is turning into a music channel soon), it means I've got a good chance of being able to catch everything I want. Which includes Smallville (odds aren't good that it'll be on in the same timeslot over here, so the point is moot), as it's written by big comic book geeks.

And T'Pol isn't too shabby, I must admit.

The thing is, colors do evokes emotion, especially in art and fashion. For a full-blooded, logic-minded Vulcan, it would look frivolous and eccentric. Then again, her prolonged exposure with humans are beginning to affect her thinking. :D

No, they need the Daedalus (a small-scale model of pre-TOS ship that displayed on Captain Kirk's desk and in Captain Sisko's Op office). To make a 22nd-century ship look like the same as the 24th-century version would look ridiculous. And yes, I initially thought the "Akira-prise" is a bit out-of-sync. I have no choice but was forced to accept a rationale that the 24th-century Akira-class is best on this 22nd-century design (i.e., her predecessor). Keyword here is "forced."

It can't be helped. Rival networks don't have to cater other network by putting their worst show on the same night as UPN's < air quote > "strongest" show. Their goal is to get ratings, pure and simple.

And yes, I quote that adjective, as in "loosely." As I have said before, if this is the best Berman & Braga got for us, then the franchise is doomed like their last film, NEMESIS. (Now, there's two hours of my life I'd like to get back.)

While it could use a few changes, I prefer to leave most of it untouched as they should serve a utility function for the crewmembers of the 22nd-century pre-Federation Warp-5 (max) cramped starship.

I like the ship design, still think it has too much room and open space in it but that is just me. :)

My issue with the T'Pol uniform outfits is it never matches what the other Vulcans in the show are wearing! I have nothing against sexy outfits, remember Spock's wife, the theme was the same with the other Vulcans, not T'Pol.
