Epic BAB math woes..

I think that's not clear again, the FAQ says that the level to gain Epic Feats and all is it's monster's HD+Class level, that's strange, if you play a monster with classes there will be a difference between the level that you pay with xp and the real epic level because it didn't count the ECL.
Imagine you play a Janni, 6HD, +5 LA, by the rules you are a 11lvl character, add in 10lvl of rogue and you are 21lvl....but you can't take Epic stuff because you are only 6HD+10LVL= 16lvl character?!
I prefer the option of the ECL equivalent to see who is Epic and who is not.

You're confusing the issue with ECL. ECL has nothing to do with when a character gains access to epic feats or abilities. Only HD and class levels count. ECL is only relevant when attempting to determine what a suitable level of play is for a creature or race with a LA, and does not in any way affect when it gains feats, ability score increases etc.

To take your Janni example, a 10th level Rogue Janni has a character level of 16. So does a PC Janni - the difference is that the one is a PC and the other a monster. If it's a PC it gets more equipment and can use those different abilities more frequently, hence it's more powerful over a longer term than one that you fight during a single encounter. While a Janni PC might gain epic feats much later, he had a lot of extra abilities that helped him in the earlier levels. Besides, LAs are rarely worth it for this very reason, but it's not the epic material's fault, but more the nature of attempting to determine LA.
