So it is -- I stand corrected. My bad. :)

Another one of the spells in there was a tempting prospect for a concept I had: vile death. It would have called for me being a human (originally) before losing a level and becoming a necropolitan, then casting vile death on myself to bind a fiend to my undead form and gain the fiendish template. I had the feeling it wouldn't be allowed, though -- plus, I wasn't sure whether the loss of level from becoming a necropolitan should otherwise count as a LA +1. In the end, I decided it was just too complicated, so never bothered with it.

At any rate... I suppose I'll be looking at figuring out a new item where my vest of resistance would have been. :)

Azaar: post your new and modified character asap. everybody's about done. we're starting soon.

Only thing useful in the Vest slot, far as I can tell, would be the +Concentration item from Complete Adventurer. It's a pretty sucky slot.

Probably because there's no good way to cost it at less than full charges given that it has static bonuses that vanish with the last charge; especially when you really just want it for the AC & save bonuses anyway. ;)

Rules are pretty straight forward (well to me anyway). What is left behind (+2 Quarterstaff), is not prorated based on charge, everything else is. It may be cheaper than buying the +2 luck bonus to saves and AC (10,000 for +2 luck bonus to AC, 8,000 for +2 luck bonus to saves), but not by much (1 charge would be 19,900). We all know that somethings are cheaper than others (say the Rod of Epic Splendor which giving a +8 bonus to cha should at least cost 640,000gp).

Even if you said +18,000 until the charges were expended, it just seems, well, nit picky, particularly when Rkhet is actively encouraging rules "maximization." I was not sure that he was aware of the rules, so I was making sure that he knew I wasn't just pulling them out of my ear.
