Epic Question #1

Well looks like I open a can of worms. I think you should be able to pick epic feats because there arnt many you can pick as a 1st level epic fighter due to the prereqs.

Well, it really depends on what the first 20 levels were in and what the 7 (8 if human) feats you choose were.

Personally I like it becasue it gives a reason to actually start up a new class in epic levels. It makes the 20thwizard/20th Fighter mess a whole lot more interesting. :D

Does this mean that if you were a Fighter who had taken Ranks in Spellcraft, had a big plus item, and took one level in Wizard, you could now start casting Epic spells? (I know the answer is no, this is an illistration). You have just spent your entire life learning how to fly a submarine (cast spells), and one day you are just going to join the Air Force and pull nine G's in an interceptor? (Fight, wear armor, sling a greatsword, ect). I mean, it's both military, It's both three dimensional piloting, right?

Let me think about that...no.

The feat you get as a fighter would be from the non Epic list, just like taking a level in Wizard would give you a non Epic feat from their list. Of course, if you had the prerequisites, you could use your character feat to get an Epic feat.

A 20th level Fighter, 1st level Wizard would have max ranks of 11,5 (cross class skill for Fighter ) + 2 (wizard skill points) + X (Intelligence bonus due to 1st level Wizard).

So in order to meet the Spellcraft (24 ranks) requirement for Epic Spellcasting, he'd need an Intelligence of 32...

And then He still wouldn't qualify; He needs 24 ranks in Knowledge (Arcana)...

No item grants ranks... they only grant bonuses.

A 20th Fighter 2nd Wizard, could qualify, if he had 32 Intelligence, or the 20th Fighter/1 st Wizard could do it if he had an Intelligence of 58... I wonder how often that is going to come up in game...

IF some fighter has such Intelligence (more than Deities), is it too much of a stretch of the imagination to let him cast Epic Spells after taking one level of Wizard?

Why should he play according to your house rule?

Let's switch the situation around. Not a 20th wizard going to fighter, but a 20th level Barbarian going to fighter. So, now you have a guy who has spent his life learning to fight, shouldn't he get epic fighter feats for his fighter level?

What about a Fighter10/weapon master10? He takes two levels of fighter next, shouldn't he get epic fighter feats?

It's still a different skill set (thought the differences are minor...).

His Weapon Master PrC can become epic... continue with that class.

There alway has to be compromises for multi-classing... at lower levels, if a Wizard takes a fighter level instead, then he is giving up spellpower. But it seems if he waits till epic level and takes the ftr. level he'll not loose anything.

The power boost for a 5th level Wiz. taking 1 level of fighter should be the same as a 20th level Wiz. taking 1 level of fighter (excluding any bonuses for actual character level bonuses).
