Epic Skills: Broken but HILARIOUS

Okay, I was just reading through epic skills, and I honestly haven't laughed so hard since the last Adam Sandler movie I saw. Some of the stuff there just isn't possible regardless of skill, yet the book implies it's natural talent. Funny stuff. Here are some classics for those who haven't read up in a while:

Implanting a suggestion to swim in a pool of acid because it'd be refreshing gives the opposing Sense Motive check +50.

You can scale perfectly smooth ceilings Spider-Man style with a DC 100 Climb check.

You can turn hostile enemies into suicidal fanatics with a DC 150 Diplomacy check.

Using Disable Device as a free action gives the Disable Device DC +100. It's the Fonz effect.

Perfectly training an animal in one minute gives the Handle Animal DC +100.

You can swim up a waterfall with a DC 80 Swim check.

Here is the funniest and most inane of them all:

You could jump out of a plane at 30,000 feet and land on your feet without getting hurt in any way (not even a scratch) with a DC 100 Tumble check.

WotC has quite a wicked sense of humor! Does any DM out there allow these? They seem broken beyond repair to me. A lot of these effects are better than spells even.

Why wouldn't I allow them? I allow a 1st lvl wizard to cast spells such as magic missle or colour spray which I'm pretty sure is also not possible regardless of skill.

And it would be... what? Your sense of disbelief can encompass magic and monsters but not incredible feats of skill?

I'd wager a guess that these things seem beyond belief because we are talking about -really- high level characters. I mean, DC's of 100 and higher? If I ever played a character to the point where I could conceivably make those kinds of checks I'd like for it to be something spectacular.

But hey, if you just wanted to point out some of the crazier things in there,
my favourites are the Escape Artist Check DC: 80 that lets you fit in places
too small for your head and the Balance Check DC: 120 that lets you stand on a cloud :)

If a player can legitimately pull it off more power too him. Actually I saw someone do that hella fun bluff on the party fighter and pull it off, word for word.

And that point would be what?

Personally, I love that skill can do those things. Just like wuxia martial artists can balance on treetops and clouds. Hell, the only thing I don't really like about them is that you're really not likely to see skills high enough to do a lot of those things without skill boosting magic items, and that - to me - defeats the purpose of having it be a non-magical skill.

It is hilarious. But I'd hardly call it broken. By the time a character gets enough ranks in a skill to do some of those things he could easily duplicate the effects with spells and magic items (and probably can).
