Essentials - Dirt - fertile or misplaced? or both

Sure it is. To paraphrase: "Essentials is garbage. Actually, maybe I really mean Essentials is dirt. Discuss." Please help me find the redeeming value in the OP.
It occured to me that I had occasionally lapsed in to referring to elements in essentials as Garbage. I have decided it is the completely wrong word all around.

Sounds like trying to not let the edition war break out. So don´t fuel it...

I for myself are looking forward to essentials. But i can understand his point of view. There are some changes. All in all, few changes, and no disguised changes as there were in 3.5. Designers are pretty forward this time.

We now have to wait and see the whole picture. Then we can decide if we like it our not.

So far not much I am attracted to in the options but maybe it is fertile ground that I mentioned...

So what? I'm not attracted to every option out there, but it doesn't suddenly stop being an option just because I'm not interested in it... (Despite how much I believe the world revolves around me.)

Shrug the dirt which is out of place might all be minor (but I expect a whole lot more) its making people nervous.

I think it's all minor being made a lot more major then it should be.

People tend to forget how 4e is built.

Take the re-addition of Schools into the game. Sure, now the game has schools where once it didn't but, like most 4e stuff it's based on a keyword, and that keyword is only important if you're using an element that interacts with it.

So, if you're not using the Mage, and instead another wizard build, sure you might have "Evocation" on one of your powers, but it's just a word. It has no effect, and you can ignore it. (Just like you would for the most part ignore damage type keywords unless you happen to be vulnerable or resistant to that type.)

That's one of the things I think is so genius about the 4e design. You can add and remove large elements of the game without a huge ripple effect throughout the system.

Seriously? Infiniti2000 seems to have it about right, and I detest edition wars. Here's a suggestion: go start a thread about something you love, or something creative, instead of bitching about things in a way that's guaranteed to piss people off. We don't need this.

Folks, we don't want you using the XP/comment system to discuss moderation any more than we want you to post in the thread about it. If you want to give a moderator a thumbs-up, do it in e-mail or PM. Thanks.
