Essentials fighters and plate?

I notice that the Slayer and Knight are both proficient with plate armour. Is this going to be true for oldskool fighters as well? I always thought it was strange that Paladins could use plate straight out of the box, but fighters were limited to scale unless they used a feat.

Slayer only has up to scale.

I believe they already announced all of the errata to old material, and plate for fighters wasn't in it.

There were a lot of threads on why fighters don't get scale when 4e was released. The gist is that scale is much more mobile than plate (no armor check penalty vs. -2), scale still gives sufficient AC to defend, and it differentiates the classes a bit.

I do like that the knight build has plate, since it fights that concept. I wish it were Str/Wis or Str/Cha instead of Str/Con, to better fit how I think knight might be role-played, but whatevs.

Yeah, I'd love a Str/Cha knight class, although they might think the paladin already has that covered.
