Even Newer(er) Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

Dekana said:
The tavern door swings open and in blows an elven lady. From her oak staff and (skimpy) stained-brown clothes, she gives the impression of having walked right out of a forest. She sniffs the air soon after stepping inside and then wrinkles her nose in apparent discomfort. "Um... hi."

The elven lady almost slams the door into a stout human but he manages to dodge the door by mere inches. Before her eyes stands, judging by the looks of him, a mercenary or a soldier of some sorts.

Right away Ryan notices the elf grimace as she wrinkles her nose. " I swear it wasn't me... " and he comically waves behind him. Suddenly voice emerges from his sack on his belt, " LIAAAR " while the fighter falsely excuses himself. " anyway, welcome to The Hanged Man lass. "

Shun stands up from the bar and makes a point of slamming the butt of his trident hard against the floor of the tavern.

OOC: Looking forward to getting started!

"What? Isn't that how sailors talk? anyway, I didn't mean to offend you."

"So it seems I have what I was looking for. I'll prepare for leaving, and meet you here tomorrow at dawn, if you're still interested. Be ready."

With that, Noris points you (Karlowitch weldon crimsomflamewielderDekana) to meet him in this thread

The elf girl's face immediately brightens up. "Ooh, what was that?" she asks excitedly. "Do you have a spirit in that pouch? Or maybe a talking head even?" She leans over to inspect Ryan's belt, unintentionally providing him with a superb view of her... outfit. "Hmm, but it would have to be shrunken to fit in there. And you don't much look like a witch doctor, you know?"

She rights herself and makes a half-bow to Ryan. "Please, call me Eva! Thanks for the welcome - it was so hard to find this place! Don't all these buildings just look the same? Brick after brick, no style at all." Eva looks around the room while talking, not paying attention to anything in particular. She certainly doesn't look or sound threatening, though she does carry a spellbook at her side.
"But this is supposed to be the place to become rich and famous, am I right?"

Lilli, gasping little, re-enters the tavern and produces a piece of vellum and sets in on a chair. Those close-by can see that she has written something on it on already. She then removes a package from a side pocket and after unwrapping a piece of charcoal, she spends a few moments adding to the letter.

She packs then packs the charcoal away, folds the letter up into a graceful little packet, removes a small candle from another pocket, lights it briefly and then drops hot wax onto where the folds meet. Judging there's enough there, she blows out the candle and use the base of it to press a small seal.

Returning the candle to her pack, she then goes over to the Inkeeper.

"Would you mind awfully passing this addressed note to to Gil, Artemis or Martelai should any of them return from that arena, please?"

Blagarm acquiesces with a nod and pins the note in the vicinity of the IAC's message.

After this brief request, she then heads over to 7 Rabbit and gently pulls his sleeve. She whispers gently to him, "I'm off to the north for a bit. I wanted to see something vaguely local, so here's me doing that; apparently not too far away to start with, two days ride to the environs of Suha Manor, run by a Master Charles. Might have to drift away from there a little further too. If Gil, Artemis or Martelai return, let them know if they don't see the note. There's also a request there for them to let me know where they've gone, in case they want me to catch up with them."

Lilli then sets her self and solemly, but stumblingly says in a halting Dwarven, "May the Stars always shine their blessing on your road."

She then becomes more familiar again. "Not too shabby I hope, for a first time. I don't think I managed to insult your ancestry, at least." She smiles.

As Eva shows of her physique she leaves Ryan speechless and he can't help himself not to take advantage of the view.

" whaaat ! " screams the zombie head in the sack " my head is not small... but it is rather dashing ! " and he tries to peak through a hole in the sack. The elf sees a human eye peer out of the sack. " well, hello there lass. I am Randal and honestly... size doesn't matter " he says with a huge grin.

The warrior shakes his head and finally answers " true, I am no magician and Randal is none of my doing. I just found him like that...more or less. By the way I am Ryan " and he copies Eva's half-bow.

Ryan finds himself agreeing with the elf " true and I wish I had time to talk more lass, but we need to be going. If you want to get rich and famous, join us tomorrow for a job for a wealthy lord. I am sure he could use someone of your talents " . He politely bids farewell and leaves the tavern while Randal rants " wait, go back, she was cute! " .

To Dekana: Randal head is actually a full size human head which Ryan carries in a largre sack connected to his belt. :D

[sblock=ooc]Oops, my mistake. I'll just assume Eva misjudged the bag's size. That, or she was making some attempt at innuendo. ;)[/sblock]
Eva doesn't have much time to answer before Ryan leaves, so she waves simply in parting and says to his back, "I'll think about it!"

Apparently, Eva doesn't think about it too hard. She paces around the tavern for a minute, mutters something about "better get ready," and then heads right back out the door.

OOC: Can't give experience, but wanted to comment. I really liked Lilli's goodbye here, as well as her leaving the note, nice touch. Hope Gil gets to see her again one day.

The door swings open violently to reveal a dark cowled figure standing in its frame. As he steps into the lit room the clank of steel betrays the fact he wears heavy armour. The door slams by itself behind him causing him to pause with a grimace momentarily. A blink of an eye later a pair of sharp cutting knives fly from behind the bar, past the man narrowly missing his head before they bury themselves deep into the door.

The man turns his head towards his side and in a harsh whisper growls at the air:

"Stop that now! We are in company!!"

He continues on towards the bar. He stands for some time wordlessly lookin up at the dustier less used bottles that line the back wall behind the bar. When they suddenly begin to wobble and clink against each other he growls more loudly this time.

"You wouldn't dare! We haven't coin enough to pay for that damage! And if the Cursed One goes hungry so do the spirits that beset him!"

Suddenly realising how loudly he spoke he clears his throat as if that will do away with the embarrasment. He drawls back his cowl revealing a visage criss crossed with scars and a dark red birthmark that covers half of his face. His eyes burn with a power that draws the barman's eyes from his disfigured nose to meet his gaze slackjawed and stammering to ask what was his poison.

Humourlessly the Cursed One replies, "We would prefer a drink without poison if you may. Something from one of the dusty bottles that will not burn through the stomach nor the pocket."

He sits down at a table that stands far enough away to be comfortably alone but not so far that he can not listen in on the others who frequent the tavern's conversations. Every now and again he can be seen to whisper to the empty chair next to him.

OOC: The Cursed One (aka Spirit) has entered the tavern. I haven't made up the stats yet or don a sheet, but he will be a lvl 1 human Paladin/Warlock. Ready and waiting for duty!

Edit: Done! Awaiting Approval: http://l4w.wikia.com/wiki/PC:The_Cursed_One_(jbear1979)

OOC: Argh ... walk in right after everyone else walks out ... I hate that. The Cursed One's luck! Noone out there contemplating running a lvl 1 adventure any time soon by any chance? Or in need of one more recruit into their adventure? I can see my PC sitting in here for some time.
