"Well, first, as I said, you'll need to purify your mind and body. I'll teach you a meditation ritual to perform every day before study, to clear your mind of impure thoughts. In fact, all thoughts. 'First we must empty the mind. Then we fill it with knowledge.'" He sounds like he's quoting. "At the same time we purify the body to get rid of poisons." 7 Rabbit turns to Gil, who he hasn't acknowledged yet. "Do either of you know if there's a sweat lodge in town? Nevermind," he continues without waiting for an answer. "We'll make do."

"In two weeks time, at the dark of the new moon, you should have learned the basics of astromancy - the art of drawing power from the stars - although true astrology will take longer. Without knowledge of astrology, trying to do too much through astromancy is dangerous, so don't try to use the techniques I teach you without my guidance for now! Um, where was I? Oh, yes, at the dark of the new moon, we'll hold an investiture ceremony, where I will formally introduce you and open the channels for you to draw upon the power of the heavens.

Then the hard part will start - once you can draw on the heavens' power, you must try to expel the influence of the dark creature from your body. This will mainly be a contest of will, I think, and I won't be able to help you directly. But I will focus your training over the next two weeks on techniques to help with this struggle.

Now, for the ceremony itself, we'll need a place away from distracting light to perform it. Stargazer Hill - that's what I call the clearing I found last night - would be perfect. I already have the correct robes and mask, but we'll need a separate set of ritual garments for you - no, no, we can skip that, that's not essential. I don't think we'll need any equipment at all that I don't already own, in fact. And we'll need witnesses. Five of them. Normally these would be existing seers watching a new member join their order, but that's not important. Anyone with an open mind will do. Do you know anyone that might be willing to serve as a witness?" 7 Rabbit pointedly avoids looking at Gil, to avoid influencing the decision.

Gil had seen rejection before, the subtle way people talk about you, like you don't exist. Hosts giving out party invitations, next to Gil, without ever acknowledging his presence. He knew what was expected, and so resolved himself unworthy of witness...

Lilli potters over.

"Rituals and magic? I'm your gal. Always eager to learn more and I’d like to help if I can. It sounds like the most terrible of afflictions."

"That's one," 7 Rabbit smiles. "Any more volunteers?"

Continuing to stand nearby, Gil tries to make eye contact with 7 Rabbit as the astrologer asks for more volunteers. Gil stood, holding his hands together, leaning in toward 7 Rabbit, as if the dwarf's girth had it's own gravity. Then... a sniffle.

			"I don't mind if you only need a witness. Boredom is already present, and learning something about magic in the meantime is an appropiate use of my time."

"Well, emptying the mind should be very easy..."





Artemis smiles broadly, "Thank you both so much for your assistance."

Emotions burst forth from Gil, Please! I want to enroll! PLEASE 7 Rabbit! the wizard gasps for air, trying to hold back tears of rejection, I meet the perquisites, and I want to witness! shoulders rise and fall, too quickly. Gil's chin works toward scrunching all his skin into one point, and his eyes begin to become overly moist Please... Gil stands, very awkwardly, feeling like his old self for a moment.

OOC: Kamotz is waiting "outside" for the Cute-Hydra adventure. I am excited for both! Especially watching how these party compositions workout

7 Rabbit looks startled. "Of course! Why would we turn you away?" He looks at Gil in confusion. "That's three. We just need two more..." Seeing that nobody else is hovering in earshot, 7 Rabbit stands and hollers, "Looking for some volunteers! Who wants to witness a fascinating ritual of magic never seen outside the Valley of Bone? No danger, and you just might learn something!"

OOC: I just realized my sister's in town this weekend, so I won't be able to post much until Tuesday. I'll post the adventure thread then, and if Karma and Kavac haven't volunteered by then, we'll fill the last slots with NPC's.

THANK YOUUU! shouts Gil as he jumps in the air. I'll watch very closely. The whole time! reassures Gil, as he wipes his eyes and buries himself in the newly arrived tea and fruit.

OOC: I have a level 1 leader (Ingvar Goldenhorn) I haven't introduced yet, because there are a lot of leaders around at the moment. My 3rd character, and I have 2 characters in adventures already, so very low priority, but he's there if a low level group needs filling out.

"Oh I'm sure I'd never try anything dangerous without proper training," he gives Gil a big wink.

The door opens, two ogres with long spears and full plate step through and move to flank the door. A half giant in full plate but no visible weapon walks through the door. He stands only a foot shorter than the ogres, but while they are muscled but wide with it, the half giant is lithe (relatively) with a honed muscled look. His face is cold and calculating. His black oily hair cut in a crew cut. He goes to the list, pulling it off the board,

"Astheone, Len, Esraethan, Sound of Stone, Mercurial, Hunzo- outside PARADE NOW!"

OOC: to those not in this initial group, if you let me get this lot on their way, I'l send mr Sarge back to answer a few questions, can rp for a bit while working out the other lot so I am not just making tedious ooc comments. In the same way, if anyone want's to rollplay the parade outside I am quite happy to do it , but the actual campaign has officially started, see link above.

“Unless there’s a danger in keeping one’s mind too open…in case something escapes yours!”

Lilli feigns a look of mock horror, but quickly reverts to a wry smile.

“I’m sure we’ll all do alright,” she says, looking up at the other volunteers.
“I could do with a course of collaborative study in the astrology of this particular firmament and this seems like a golden chance for me.”
