Even Newer(er) Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

The Goliath stands up from his booth in the corner, picks up his great-axe, and walks forward to join the quickly-growing throng of adventurers in front of Lord Mallaby.

"M'lord" he says firmly..."I am Zardi, the last son of the Stonewolf tribe. If you need a strong axe on your journey, I am more than capable".

“Any of you is interested? Or have any question?”

Brenwar stands volunteering to assist the two from Theotocopolis, "It can't be any worse than the jungles I've just been through, I will try to assist you and your country." He taps Halleck on the shoulder encouraging him to volunteer also.

"When do we leave?"

Putting a smile back on, he walked over to the gathering group of adventurers. "Ay! Ya got de Spidah an de King a de Cup ta join ya as well."

He gives a bow of the head to the Lord. "Tis a 'onor, Lord Aydalen Mallab'. I an I know a lot a tings 'bout de far lans a 'lleria. An da great blade a Jarro Sarak ain't nottin ta scoff at nedda; dis ya have too."

"Aye, indeed. Iffen yer needin' help wit' some skulls ta chop, Spider, me axe be right there wit' ye. As long as they gots some coins fer libera...liberar...coins fer takin'! Haha!"

The stout and ale smelling dwarf followed the large half-orc over toward Mallaby and gave an exaggerated bow, his beard brushing the ground and picking up some dirt along the way.

"And ye have me axe," he says somberly.

"I am truly, truly overwhelmed by the enthusiasm for my little venture here," Malaby says. "Welcome, good people... ah, the wine."

He turns to the tavern wench who has delivered the ridiculously expensive liquid, and looking at her soulfully, says "It is beyond pleasure to be served by one so beautiful as you. Please, pour, and take a sip, so that I may see your eyes reflected in the goblet. That would only begin to do them proper honor." He leans forward and kisses her on the hand.

[sblock=ooc]I think Graval, Perin, Zardi, and Eraden are the only "first characters" in the tavern, so I've got all those on board. Those, plus Goldenhorn and Spyder looks like a good group. If there are no objections or late arrivals of first characters, I'd like to start with those.[/sblock]

The cloaked figure paused in whatever arcane work she was attempting, long enough to listen to the handsome young man's plea. As the group gathered around him, she watched but did not venture forward- she seemed content to simply observe the denizens of the Hanged Man as they presented themselves...

>Looks like a pretty sizeable group already formed up- not sure how many you were planning on taking. From the volunteers so far, it seems like:
1. Goldenhorn- minotaur cleric/runepriest 1 (leader)
2. Perin- human sorceror 1 (striker)
3. Eraden- half-elf paladin 2 (defender)
4. Sharpe- human bard 1 (leader)
5. Spider- human slayer 1(striker)
6. Zardi- goliath barbarian 1(striker)
7. Graval- dwarf fighter 1 (defender)

Mina is an eladrin mage 1 (controller), but is not comfortable working with someone like Sharpe, so she is willing to wait for another adventure- she is my 3rd character, so not a top priority (especially since my replacement 2nd character may be in the other adventure currently recruiting).

[sblock=ooc]As a GM, I don't really think I'm comfortable working with someone like Sharpe. (Sorry Luinaar) It would be nice to have someone else in the party who has NAD attacks, though. Only the firsties (Eraden, Graval, Perin & Zardi) are definites for this adventure)[/sblock]

May, the plainly dressed human girl that Goldenhorn is employing as a servant, almost breaks out in laughter at Mallaby's treatment of the serving girl. Goldenhorn gives her a cautioning look, which induces her to keep silent by pressing her balled fist hard against her mouth while looking at the floor. Her shoulders nevertheless shake with mirth. Accepting a cup of wine, Goldenhorn turns to young lover. "Lord Mallaby, may I ask how long this journey is likely to take? "

The door bangs open, and in walks a tall human girl in what appears to be a reinforced skirt and corset made of silver-chased leather. A generous swell of pale cleavage protrudes above the garment, framed by tumbling waves of lustrous brown hair. The upper half of the girl's face is obscured by a silver domino mask held in place by a black ribbon. At the temples of the mask, a confection of silver-white feathers curves elegantly up and back, giving the impression of wings. A pair of leather boots up to the knee matches the corset, and long, shapely legs flash beneath the slit skirt as she strides confidently forward, chin high and chest outthrust. A silver clasp at her throat holds up a short cape of some rippling, shimmery material that trails behind her like a veil. A sheathed dagger at her waist completes the ensemble, adding an asymmetric flourish that emphasizes her narrow waist and pleasantly flared hips.

She stops in a clear spot well in view from all sides of the room, and strikes a dramatic pose, hands on hips and elbows wide.
"Greetings, fellow adventurers! Let evil beware, for the Silver Starling is here!"

She pauses, as if suddenly not quite sure what to do next, and begins to look around. She catches sight of Lord Malaby and gasps audibly. She stares slack-jawed for a second, then turns and dashes over to another table, her back turned away from Malaby and her shoulders hunched; head down as if to obscure her face even more. She fumbles her way into a chair near Brenwar, not far from the pair of scholars from Theotocopolis. "Hi, there. I'm the Silver Starling, bane of evil! What worthy quest be ye embarked upon?"

[sblock=ooc]Introducing Porphyria Donnervale, a.k.a. the Silver Starling, my level 5 wild sorceress. She's still a work in progress, mechanically -- which is to say, I've made all the decisions, but still need to finish encoding them in wiki format, as well as ticking all the boxes to retire Ikni properly so that Porphyria can start at level 5. But her background and something of her personality are written up, and the rest will follow soon.

Some of you may recall Porphyria from events at the end of Daunton's Dead Shadow, where she played the part of damsel in distress.

Sharpe's chaotic evilness is just for fun and to add personality to him. Plus he can fake sanity well. I don't want to play him as the type detrimental to any adventure. He would not kill the paladin or anything like that.

Basically he is all talk and no action, is what I am saying. I just have him crazy to be a interesting character, I won't have him do anything to harm the party, or kill any key non-evil NPCs or anything like that :)
