Even Newer(er) Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

OOC: I love this character, and somehow I feel like I must "one-up" the community. Just you wait *asian stare* == (PS: I just had this greatest character planned out! Can't wait to "unlock" my third character slot)

OOC: For those waiting on my adventure. My wife should be introducing her character soon at which point I'll get the adventure thread up for those that are interested. I don't expect we'll really get going until next week given the holiday weekend.

Marrgash was about to take the cage, as Valkin enters the bar. He pauses, his hand over the top of it. At the Valkin's talk of trouble and the bartenders suggestion, Marrgash nods. "I should be only too happy to help you, my friend," he says to Valkir. "Perhaps you might tell us more about where your ship was last seen, and what cargo it carried?"

The ship contained lots of cargo destined for great many merchants in Daunton. But it's not my ship, so I can't say for sure who or what was on it. I ain't no wealthy trader, just a simple toymaker that wants to bring joy to the blessed hearts of all the young children in Daunton. That's why I insist on getting genuine Solstice Trees and Solstice Candles from the island.

Now, as you may already know, Solstice is a tiny island named for the astronomical phenomena that occur there twice each year. It's not all that far from here, maybe an 8 to 10 hour ride by ship. It's likely the last stop on the itinerary based on its proximity to Daunton, but I couldn't tell you for sure.

The door to the tavern opens again, though this time with much less force. A cloaked woman carrying a quarterstaff enters. Shaking off the layers of snow she throws back her hood and out floats what looks like a glowing snowpuff. She turns back to the door and urges a beast to enter as well. "Come Noctua, it is warm in here. There is a fire you can curl up by." Into the tavern "timidly" steps a young owlbear. Looking around the owlbear tries to go back outside, "Noctua, emplores the woman, I can get you food here," The owlbear slowly follows her inside and to the fireside. The woman takes off her cloak and lays it upon the floor about 5 steps from the fire and much like a puppy, Noctua, an owlbear, a feybeast, checks a circle around the cloak and lays down comfortably. You can hardly believe your eyes.

Now that you can see the woman better, you can tell that she is of Fey origin. Perhaps one of the hamadryad. She has long black hair loosely flowing over her cloth armor. At her waist is a dagger. She shrugs of her pack and places it next to the owlbear as she turns to speak to the snowpuff, "Luna, please keep Noctua company while I secure us food." Luna seams to tinkle and blink, then floats over to Noctua and rests on the owlbear's shoulder.

The woman now turns to the barkeep "May I have a hot bowl of stew for me and a pound of raw meat for Noctua please. Also, as I was coming up the path, I heard a loud voice in distress, worried about having a 'proper Solstice without that Solstice shipment from Solstice.' What's that all about? Solstice happens when it happens. You don't have to do anything to have a 'proper' Solstice."

The dwarf is clearly flustered by the newcomer and responds frustratedly in a sing-songy, almost mocking tone.

"Ya dinnae have ta deeew anythin to have a proper Solstice. AYE LASSIE, but ya have ta have a Solstice tree and Solstice candles fer a PROOOOPER Solstice CEL-E-BRA-TION!"

"OH, A Solstice Celebration", replies the new comer, clearly not realizing she's being mocked. "Tell me more about your, how did you sing it, CEL---Eh-Bray----Tion. As you can guess, I'm new to the area. Back in San Olive, the grove where my family lives, we just sing in the new year on the eve of the Solstice. It's our way of chasing away the dark days and welcoming back the light. "

OOC: Son of Meepo I was considering bringing in a third character (1st level) who is a hybrid leader. If your adventure is full, I will likely wait until later to introduce her. If you need another, I can bring her in and finish her wiki page. Let me know :)

Tarkus makes a rude noise. "Decadence. My temple marked the passing of the year by gathering around a simple metal pole, representing strength and unbending purpose, and airing our grievances with our fellow initiates, that the priests could deal with each complaint justly and start the new year with a clean tally. Then, lest we fall into idleness, we would occupy ourselves with athletic contests." He sighs nostalgically. "A fine ritual. Strengthening for both body and spirit."

Nalkyr remained silent, though he noted with great interest the hamadryad who entered. The eladrin, shifted on his feet. His father had never been one to entertain visitors, but his work in the court of the Summer Queen had introduced Nalkyr to a great many of her vassals. Dryads, satyrs, pixies. Other eladrin. Men and women whose nature transcended race- they were simple 'of the Green'. Nalkyr had only met one hamadryad.

"[Sweet summers and white winters, lady of the treesoul.]"
the young eladrin murmered in his native tongue, inclining his head towards the hamadryad. He felt more confident speaking in his native tongue- his speech impediment only really affected him when he spoke in Common.

OOC: :< I wanna play in the Christmas/Hanukkah/New Year adventure with the hubby and wife too. (I can't tell which is it, I'm azn, hehe)

Chinese New Year adventure, anyone?

OOC:
There is going to be a massive influx of characters return to the tavern with both Iron Sky's adventures finished and Brotherhood Returned finished as well. The tavern will have to get a building permit from the town hall in order to construct another room in order to seat everyone comfortably.

Coming soon into the tavern...although not at the same time.

Lerrick: Level 6 shielding cleric (half-elf)
Kruk: Level 11 guardian fighter (dwarf)

I'm currently in the process of updating both characters.

Just wanted to throw that out there in case anyone is thinking of starting a new adventure. I have three characters so I'm not in any rush, but would be happy to step in one if there is a slot leftover.
