Even Newer(er) Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

OOC: I'm actually looking at getting something together for lvl 1's/2's. Just a few short encounters and a bit of plot between. And this time I'll use Google Docs. Not as pretty as map tools... but as I'm finding in Rift in a Bag... VERY effective!

OOC: I'm actually looking at getting something together for lvl 1's/2's. Just a few short encounters and a bit of plot between. And this time I'll use Google Docs. Not as pretty as map tools... but as I'm finding in Rift in a Bag... VERY effective!
OOC: Sounds perfect! As a party of lvl 1s ready and waiting to go is not so common, I guess maybe you and VanderLegion could agree on who takes us first, which might bring us pretty close to lvl 2. And then we could continue on into the adventure of the other :D Maybe they could even link! Or am I getting ahead of myself?!

The atmosphere in the Hanged Man was almost still. Even the air seemed to be holding its breath for...something. But like the old saying goes, this was merely the calm before the storm.

Slamming the doors wide open, a man in polished chain mail and wearing the livery of the Daunton Militia steps through the open portal to the Hanged Man. He breathes heavily, as though he had been running for quite some time.

"I am Lieutenant Jordan Proudmin, and I need your help! Daunton...needs your help! I need as many of you as I can muster, and quickly! The Einherjar are upon us! Follow me if you wish to keep Daunton intact."

With that, the Lieutenant walks back out of the door to the hanged man and stands outside, waiting for his volunteers.

OOC: This is a recruitment for a new adventure, which I have titled Invasion of the Einherjar. It is a short adventure for 5 or 6 characters of level 1 or 2. Can I get a raise of hands from those who are eligible and interested? As is standard for L4W adventures, I am taking those who currently have their first and only characters in the Hanged Man on priority, and if I can't fill the docket with those, then we'll fill the remaining slots in the standard fashion.

Who's up for ADVENTURE!? <queue obnoxious repeating echo that seems to take forever to fade to nothing>

OOC: As I'm fairly certain there aren't enough low level PCs about to have to worry about slots I'm going to go ahead and assume Leather is good to join

Leather wipes his face and drops his spoon onto the now clean plate.

"That's better. Almost feel human again. So what do you say Mr Cobb? Shall we go have a chat with these Einherjar's. The man didn't mention pay, but I'm pretty sure you don't come knocking on a door like this one expecting charity or patriotism. Ha! You never know our luck. The Ringmaster over there might even be along for the ride! Just seeing that would make it worth it!"

Leather pushes himself to his feet and lets out a long burp, eyeing the small gnome as he awaits his decision.

OOC: Leather raises his hand

"Thank the gods," Haaku mutters. He pushes himself away from the table and stands in one motion, and then strides quickly through the door. The hand he raises to hail the lieutenant bears a gauntlet adorned with cruel-looking claws. "Name's Haaku; I'm your man. Point me."

From outside the Hanged Man, the seven-foot tall, fur covered, circus barker and animal trainer, Fhangrim shouts.

Adventure? ADVENTURE?

Does that mean I'd get paid? You see me and my gals just happen to be between jobs right now, and starting your own traveling circus costs money, a whole LOT of money, so if adventure means getting paid, then I go!

Fhangrim starts trying to run after the militiaman.

OOC: Fhangrim, level 1 Sentinel Druid and his duo of Gaoler Pygmy Owlbears is ready for adventure. This is my 3rd PC, the other two are adventuring.

Cringed as the door once more was slammed open with enough force to rock the chandlers and cause dust to rain on his head. Turning his head to the militia leader with a quirked brow below his disheveled hair the Gnome reluctantly burdened himself with his pack once more for the thrill of adventure; after all, this WAS what he came so far for! Staying close to leather he raised a gloved small hand, "We adventurers would be more than honored to do the great city of Daunton this service assuming the rewards are inclusive.. As my strange traveling midget bear trainer put it: Point Me!", he explained with a deep bow of his head and a wave of his arm causing the weapons of those chosen party members to gleam in the light and a light chorus of trumpets to sound.

OOC: Gneil Cobbmotton, level 1 Gnome Illusionist (Wizard) - Note that my character has still YET to be judged. I have e-mailed twice without any action.

OOC:
So that is #4:
1) jbear's Leather
2) WEContact's Haaku
3) Son of Meepo's Fhangrim
4) ANGRYxPIRATE's Gneil

Do I have a taker for 5th spot?

[sblock=SoM, WEC, jbear]
Thanks for giving me a second chance! I promise to do better this time around. This adventure is actually going to contain some honest to goodness roleplay *gasp*! And I will be using Google Docs for the maps!

Don't sweat it - you don't need to be approved to go on an adventure, you only need to be approved before being awarded XP by a new DM. It usually takes a while (read: probably a month minimum). If you're still unapproved at that point, then start yelling and we'll get you taken care of. It's usually not a problem. If CFW is concerned about having an unviewed character (note that none of your companions are reviewed either) in his adventure, he can go review them himself. :p

And in any case, according to the wiki page you've only been waiting about 2 weeks. There's other characters that have been waiting since as far back as February. ;) Emailing the judges probably won't get you far anyway, since I believe that non-judge character approvers don't get the emails (and few of the judges seem to have time anymore to do character reviews - I know I don't). We created the wiki page and moved away from the emails because it was very difficult to tell who still needed approvals and how many by looking at the hundreds of emails (no exaggeration), which meant people were getting lost and forgotten in the bottom of the queue.[/sblock]
