Even Newer(er) Tavern Thread: The Hanged Man

Kruk jolts from his slumber at a table and belches loudly. Hmmmmff Instinctively he checks his pouch of gold to see if it is still there. Seeing that it was he sighs with a big smile on his face. Barkeep!...nevermind! The fighter winces as he suddenly realizes his head is throbbing in pain.
The dark figure stomps behind the bar grabs a large mug and puts in an egg (with shells), hot sauce, chopped rat on a stick, pepper, salt, onion, a green bean, six orange pips (no more no less), and two whole lemons. It then takes out its sword and stirs the whole concoction together and walks over to Kruk's table.

Drink this dearie it says, thrusting the drink in his face.

The odor wafts into Kane's nose and the bugbear holds it closed against the pungent stench. "Hey! You no poison Stinkbeard, it no work against him, he is dwarf, they drink poison all tha time" he says, the voice all nasally as he continues holding his nose.

hmmmmfff...err...whatever you say. The dwarf quaffs the contents of the mug down to the last drop. He belches loudly again, this time a fragment of egg shell projects out of his mouth, landing on the table in front of him. He stands and blinks twice and shakes his head a couple times. He then smiles, yawns and stretches his arms outward, farting loudly in the process. err...sorry everyone...Kane, this stuff works! I feel better already!...well almost...heh...I think something else came out when I farted. I'll be right back. The dwarf walks with legs spread to the bathroom, thanking the dark figure along the way.

OOC: dimsdale Oh you bastage! LOL!! You made me burst out laughing while at work! I'd give you an XP for that one, but it won't let me!

ooc: lol. Yeah, that's classic Kruk. He does't have any social skills, but he's extremely loyal. Kane, in a previous adventure, started referring to him as stinkbeard...now he can call him "stinkbutt" too :)

The doors to the Hanged Man open and close...a familiar sight and sound that announced to the populous of the oft crowded tavern that a new or returning guest had arrived to partake in revelry and the prospect of adventurous employment. Today was no different. Standing in the entryway was a human* dressed in the simple garb of a desert traveler.

He has a short, tight hairstyle of spiked, dark gray hair, and his skin is darkened from the many hours he spends in the sun. He wears loose-fitting clothing the color of dust beneath a simple rust-colored vest that leaves his well-toned arms exposed. Around his neck, on a hide string, hangs a ring of steel and obsidian. Dwarven runes circulate around the ring. Translated, the runes say "Desert Wind". Strips of cloth are tightly wrapped around Gray's wrists, hands, and ankles, protecting his hands keeping the cuffs of his pants out of his way, allowing for maneuverability (not to mention a snazzy billowed look to his pants).

As the newcomer entered the tavern, he received a nod from the barkeep. When the newcomer speaks, he has a heavy Allarian accent.

"Hello all! I am Gray, an explorer from Allaria. I am in need of work and hope to master a fighting art that has been passed down to me by an Allarian monk. I have heard that this may be the place to find the answer to both. Would this happen to be true?"

(Bluff roll HERE)

There is something slightly off with Gray's appearance. It takes you a moment to pinpoint it, but you finally realize that Gray is not human. Though you are unsure as to exactly what he is...you are sure that he is a shape shifter of some form.

OOC: Gray, Hengeyokai Monk level 1, ready for action!

An extremely tall and muscular woman enters The Hanged Man. Clothed in hide armor and caked in dirt, sweat, and dried blood, she strolls up to the bar, blond dreadlocks trailing behind her, "Howdie sweetie!" she gives Blagarm a wink, "Hayow's abowt powin' ole Eithal a nice cold wun."

OOC: Any bored lvl 2 or lvl3 partons in the tavern want to join the currently running adventure: Turning the Tide? Read through the adventure. If you are interested, I'll take the first to PM me is in. :) Still plenty of work to be done in the adventure.

The doors to the hanged man groan open slowly. That same cloaked stranger that was here only a few hours ago steps back through the doors.

"Malakai..." he says simply, not seeming to care if anyone wants more.

Sitting back at the same empty table near the fire, Malakai grumbles to himself about what a waste of time "that" was. He traces his right index finger over the gold runes inlay of a set of black iron bracers. He keeps looking at the doors of the Hanged Man as though he were waiting for others to appear.

OOC: Malakai, Tiefling Fire Elementalist Sorcerer lvl 4, ready and waiting for more action!

An amorphous figure obscures the gentle light that filters through the doorway. Dust falls from it, as if it were made of dirt. As the creature gives a step forward everyone can see why. The shambling mound of dirt, rocks and vines walks at a steady peace, leaving a trail of fresh earth at each footstep. "I am the guardian of the balance, I'm known as Earth." he states, before placing himself next to a window, where the sunshine illuminates the several plants growing on him, a particularly beautiful one, with only three intensely green leaves and an outstanding orange flower shines like a pearl on an otherwise dull background.

Earth, level 10 warforged warden.
