This may not be news to some people, but I thought it might be fun to discuss some of the various events being held at Gen Con this year.

What's interesting is that it seems like more publishers run D20 games than independents do! A real variety of stuff going on...

Looks like CMG Mark is running some games.
Several RoboRally games scheduled.
I saw a game on Saturday where you can win $100 if you kill a CR 10 monster (with a 7th level PC) the fastest. Costs $12 to get in. Weird.

WAY more WEG Star Wars being ran than d20 Star Wars. That's poetic.

I certainly understand why, though - which version to people get to play more at home? Chances are it's the newer version.

I don't know.. I think most Star Wars RPG people still play the WEG version. I think there was a lot of dissapointment over the d20 version.

Couple of other things I noticed. Quite a few 8 hour games being ran. Someone is running an 8 hour 1e D&D game.

No HARP games being run. Only 3 FUDGE games being ran.

I haven't heard of any locally advertised WEG games in years. I see lots of SW advertised.

The "disappointment" seemed to me to come from the "D20 is coming and the sky is falling" and the "hate the new guy with the license" crowd. I see lots of people who actually play SW d20 who profess they like it.

One should not tune their ear to only those they are sympathetic towards.

Are you figuring in the 12 listings for Living Force (4 runs of each of the three modules in a new trilogy), each of which will undoubtedly run multiple tables?

I see that there is no women in gaming SEM this year... that makes me sad - was my favorite part of GenCon last year.
