Ever had something catch you off-guard?

Have you ever been reading in a gaming book that you've owned for some while, and had an item/spell/optional rule/etc... spring out at you that you never saw before and thought seemed quite cool?

Happened to me yesterday with the DMG. I was flipping through and I found the well of worlds, and I couldn't help but see a potential plot hanging above it.
