Everything got serious

As a general rule, changing a player's character against their will won't make them happy. It falls into the same category as GMs who do stuff like 'You say..' and 'You do..' (i.e., that is, playing a character for the player). If you give them a real shot at finding a cure, I suppose that's cool, but changing a PC into something that they don't want be changed into purely for your own amusement can (and usually does) go horribly, horribly, wrong. Just giving you a heads up.

There is a very reasonable cure
Myconid Spores
Glass of holy water
Dire Elk Fur
I only intended to make this into a fun, humerous advanture :heh: but this is the most serious the players have ever been

I'm not surprised. Being eaten by a big bad is all in a day's work for an adventurer. Turning into a moose - now that's scary!

Well, if nothing else the irony is funny. They'll never be able to take that away from you.

I usually have the opposite problem
very much a problem with my group as well, they make jokes about everything and it somtimes subtrackts from the fun.

How does a Dire Rat contract and give this disease ... I think a moose should have jumped out of the water and bit him it would have been more realistic

 :p

and btw, im joking

I think it's GREAT. And if they're engaged with it, go for it. Sometimes the best adventures come from moments like this.

Think about why the dire rat might have it - a mooseman shaman or an ancient temple of the Moose God. You've got the basics for an awesome adventure there!

Moose have a longstanding and respectable position in all gaming, stemming from the credits of Monty Python Search for the Holy Grail. Use of feral rabbits, moose bites, holy hand grenades and French taunting can never be the subject of complaints - merely intense groaning and perhaps the throwing of foodstuffs.

I say go with it. If there that into it, that's great. Who cares if they got the humor, you have an adventure they are interested in which is far better.

Now I need to think of a name for the Moose God
