Displays: I thought it was always apparent even in the 3.0 PsiHB, that you have displays be whatever you wanted them to be like. I would have displays built individually on whatever the characters were like.

You're right...kinda.. it was errata'd to state that Displays could be customized. However, as per the 1st printing of the PsiHB, the Displays were "set in stone" so to speak.

Personally, the one that always blew my mind was the snot (don't remember what the right term for it is, it's always been referred to as "snot" in my group). What would possess Bruce to decide that a quick "snot-wash" was a cool display?

That would be ectoplasm, ala Ghostbusters. In the 19th century, mediums in a trance would produce ectoplasm (for some gawd awful reason) as proof of their connection to the astral plane. That's what they claimed, of course, but it was probably jello.

This sounds like excellent news, and very flavourful :)

Which issue of Dragon is this? (They seem to take ages to reach the UK nowadays)

Dragon # 317, it has a Thundercat on the cover.

A couple things I have noticed.

The power Energy Lance does not have a Acid version. It does 5d6 damage and has a secondary effect based on the energy type. It is Psion/Wilder 3rd.

In the power's description it says "If your primary discipline is psychokinesis, you have already selected a prefered energy type." This suggests that the individual sub-classes may get some unique class abilities.

Another power is mentioned, Energy Bolt, 3rd level power. Both of these allow Psions and Wilders to choose the type of energy when the power is manifested.

Both this power and Burrowing Bonds do d6 damage, almost all the curent powers do d4 damage.

The displays are spelled out fully, Material, Visual and Auditory.

Temporal Reiteration has a manifestation time of "1 Free Action", not "1 Quick Action" as introduced in the Miniature Book. This power reverts your condition to what it was at your last Full Round Action, minus the Power Points and Experience points used to manifest it. It is Nomad 8th.

Like Tien in the Cell Saga using his tribeam over and over and over again and almost dieing. (DBZ) Anyone else equate psionics with ki?

Always have, ever since the first thread going 'psionics suck teyh arent fantastic' that I walked in on. Honestly, change a couple of power names, take some of those neat psionic feats, you've got someone who runs up walls, breaks stone with their punch, and can go into a swordfight using one finger and win. If that's not DBZ I don't know what is. And this looks even closer...

So I hope they do a 'What else are psionics?' section in this new book, so people can see new ways of implementing them... they don't have to be gooey pseudoscience, they can be so many other things.

"Egon? Your mucus."

Do the augmentations remind anyone else of the diminished/heightened mechanic for Arcana Unearthed spells? Is Bruce spending too much time at Monte's house? ;)

Maybe. :) But that's a good thing. I really wish the standard D&D spells had that built in.

Actually though, the new psionics stuff takes A LOT from the Wheel of Time d20 game, especially since psionics don't appear to be able to be augmented down, or diminished.
