When my group first began, I'd cook up some burgers and fries very reminiscent of one of my favorite all time DMS. After a few months the players stopped bringing pops and side snacks and then all together only brought pops and stuff for themselves. After a while I stopped cooking since everyone was bringing their own little things. Every now and then a player (like this past weekend) will bring food (a player brought 3 pizzas, two pots of pasta, 10 rolls, 4 salads ) but its very rare. I think when i get the campaign back in session I'll address it. My problem player used to bring brownies and cookies to butter me up but now that shes gone the well has dried up.

Half the time my wife and I cook dinner for our group (all long-time friends) before we play. The other half we go out or order pizza. The guys bring snacks and many times wine, beer or soda. Anything in my fridge is fair game: soda, homebrew, juice, whatever. The guys usually overpay or buy beers for me to make up for all the times they got the homecooking. They are good guys.

Our hosts are the same way. Although you have to ask about the booze.

We do try to bring stuff once in awhile but they don't complain if we don't. One guy is kinda the greedy type as he'll bring a chocolate bar for himself but none for others. If asked, he will break off a piece. I sometimes take Smarties or one time I took a big box of Nerds.

We split costs for pizza, usually going for Dominos 5 for 5 deal.

-We all bring our own supplies. Every once in a while, someone will forget a book or dice and borrow someone else's, but it's usually not habitual. We also have a standing policy of bringing your own snacks/drinks.

Not in my group. It's expected, and nothing less is tolerated.

wow. never really considered my friends to be mooching nor did i consider them to be rude.

I guess I had some pretty bad experiences with a person I consider a friend- I tried to be a friend and- well it didn't work out. I screwed up, lost my temper and said things that only the best of friends would excuse. :( Wish I could apologze in person, but he has made that clear.

guess i'll have to agree to disagree with you.

I can live with that- you can't agree with everyone, unless its the fact that you don't see eye to eye on something.

we were playing a group game. and we all were having fun. i refereed so the books weren't needed by the others. and when it came to rolling dice. only one dice score can be called out at a time/observed anyway. so only 1 set was needed.

When something needs to be looked up, if I am not busy I grab a book and look it up, like a race to either give the page number or do a reading of the item (to help educate everyone). It just annoys me that people can't consistantly bring their own books and stuff, once in a while a forgotten item is okay.

You are right, its about having fun, worrying about the dust collecting on someone elses books while mine get thrashed by four or five other people using them should not be an issue. :\
