On the subject of the game itself;

They got me.

FF6 vibes and Amano art? This is like those two CoC sourcebooks about 1980s Japan. We now have so much choice in the space that they are making games just for an audience of me now.

At least, that's how it feels.

Definitely now in a mood to try dipping my hand back into JRPGs. Since Steam is having a sale, I picked up Chrono Trigger 50% for less than 8€, downloaded the demo for Trails in the Sky: Chapter 1, and I decided to buy Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles.

I'm torn between wanting to throw tons of money at this and remembering the earlier thread here about being wary of kickstarters with lots of extra bits and pieces in them...

Adjacent: (since I am guessing some folks following this thread are JRPG fans): as a western CRPG fan my entire life, i have never really played a JRPG. Of the modern ones that seem to get a lot of praise like Octopath Traveler, what JRPG would you recommend for a long time CRPG player? NOTE: I prefer turn based to RTwP
I was long time CRPG player, and still play them, but have more recently (if can count 5 years ago as rexent) played some JRPGs.

Ones I've enjoyed are Dragon Quest XI and the legends of heroes trails series. They've just done a remaster of the first game (Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter) which has a good demo that you can download and try.
