Fantastic four / silver surfer trailer

 Holy Crap! It's Norrin Radd!

I must admit, those shots of the ever cool Silver Surfer have got me interested. And here I thought that there was no way they could make an alien who rode a surfboard work in a live action film.

But, to be frank, the trailers of the first film impressed me as well, and the end product wasn't as we wanted it to be (FYI though, I did enjoy the first film, but even I can acknowledge how cheesy it got at times). Hopefully this new movie will live up to the trailers promise.

The first movie looked like popcorn fare to me and it was.

This however... I've watched that trailer like 30 times.

I liked the first FF movie. (I also liked the Hulk movie.)

I want to like this next FF movie, with the the Surfer. But. . .

What was the deal with him flying through buildings and busses? And passing through his board? I don't remember anything like that from the comics.

And he passes through buildings without affecting them, but when he "surfs" over the outside of the building, the windows blow out?

He passes through a bus without affecting it or the people in it, but when he flies past a row of parked cars, they all blow over?

It looks cool but it seems to only be one sequence instead of a look here and there of the film.
I like that feel better than getting a bunch of shots that are there just to sell the movie. Leave all the cool scenes secret, I say. :)

The first movie did an excellent job of establishing the four main characters and their powers. Unfortunatley their Doctor Doom was a complete dud, and so lacking a villain, the movie lacked a key element to a successful superhero film. But with the whole origin thing out of the way they can now go full force into the second movie, and going with the Silver Surfer saga sounds like a great way to go!

IIRC, all the heralds have "Cosmic Force" or whatever. They can do almost anything they want really. It's been quite a while, so can't say for sure, but I think matter rearrangement was part of it also.

It's probably something he consciously does, so when he's not of a mind to turn the power on, he affects his environment.

Never really cared to much for the first one, and this one looks like it will be better. Wonder if Galactus will be in it.

Common thought is Galactus will be #3.

I liked the first, not for any particular point of them, but because they felt more like superheroes to me. Spiderman 1 was decent in that regard, but never really got into Spidermans super strength and such, 2 didn't do anything for me. XMen had combat powers, but flight was generally slow and tedious and super strength was mostly absent or underused. (A car blows up and flips over, but Collosus doesn't pick one up and throw it...) These things are all from memory of course, so I may be wrong.

In FF4, Thing crumples up a car (off camera, but still) and pulls the fire truck. Torch is blazing through the air. It just felt more comic-book to me.

Hulk was something I abhored. Too much I just didn't like.

I agree with this totally.

At the end of the movie we got a little taste of Doom being, well, Doom-ish but prior to that it was a combination of electro and his Nip/Tuck character it seemed to me.

Still, I think they left him Doomy enough that a return visit by him would be cool.

But again, that trailer rocks. I am officially in geek-countdown mode for June 15th now.
