Fantastic four / silver surfer trailer

IIRC, all the heralds have "Cosmic Force" or whatever. They can do almost anything they want really. It's been quite a while, so can't say for sure, but I think matter rearrangement was part of it also.
It's the Power Cosmic. I have several dozen SS comics, and coincidentally, reread a couple dozen of them just recently. I don't recall any passing through matter, or even his board, and I didn't see anything like it in the reread.

I'm a fan of the SS, and I think I'm pretty well versed on his story and powers. But maybe there's a little something somewhere that I missed that expains this "phasing". (Or some issue that at least shows him doing it.)

I mean, he does it twice in the 2-minute trailer.

The first FF movie was attrocious -- never want to see it again and want my 2+ hours back.

I watched this trailer and went "Meh".

Nope, doubt I'll see it.

I have some hope for the upcoming Spidey film, but I am worried about the "Too Many Villains Syndrome".

I detested the first movie. It was a tremendous disappointment to me, both in terms of action and acting.

This trailer, though? This two minute trailer is better than the entire first movie. :)

I am in full agreement with this statement. The first movie was not good. Opinions to the contrary are just wrong.... wrong, I say. ;) :p

This trailer, however, looks good only after the chase begins. The beginning of the trailer leads me to believe that the acting is still far too campy and over the top to be enjoyable.

I can't say that he ever did it, but the Power Cosmic was used differently by each of the Heralds also. I don't remember any of them using it to phase, but I think they'd be capable of such. IIRC, they have some control over matter. I seem to remember him flying around asteroids and such, but it'd make sense if he could fly through matter while zipping around the stars at high speeds.

Heck, Silver Surfer pretty much flew around and blasted stuff. :)

And a dude made of sliver riding a surfboard isn't? :\

If you can't have Galactus appear as close as he does in the comic, why do him at all?
I dunno, maybe it's the caucasian face. Maybe they could do Galactus as being silvery like the Surfer, and less like a giant man donning power armor and a giant helmet. Maybe just a dash of Unicron?

While I don't find your suggestion unreasonable, I find it unneccessary to drastically alter Galactus' appearance when he can be presented in such a way that can be realistic and awe inspiring. The Galactus in Marvel Ultimate Alliance fit the criteria perfectly, and I sincerely hope the makers of the film go down that route.

Well, yeah, anything is just conjecture until we see it on-screen. I mean, the surfer looks a lot better than anyone hoped for. So I'm sure the producers will make, like, 10 different Galactuses (Galactusi?) until they reach one that satisfies the movie's needs.

Not that I know of, but Satriani has been a Surfer fan since... back when his memories start failing... :D

Nope- no Satriani music in that trailer (too bad, too- when the suggestion was made, I ran to check it out. :()

If they don't have some kind of Satriani music in the movie, I'll be cheesed. Either "Surfing" or "Back to Shalla Bal" during some kind of introspective scene.

He's broken his board down into its component atoms and recreated it before- he does it in SS v3 #1 when he finally gets off of Earth (having realized that his board is what was trapping him on the planet). He can manipulate atomic structure on a level rivalling that of the Molecule Man (the two of them rebuilt the Rocky Mountains after the Beyonder destroyed them in Secret Wars v.2 years ago).

The phasing through his board wouldn't be a problem for him. Phasing through the building is something I can't recall having seen him do before, but it could be within the scope of his powers. If nothing else, maybe what we view as him phasing could be him creating some kind of wormhole, which is something he can do.

[EDIT- I was just reminded on another board that the Surfer has been seen to phase through things- notably in SS v3 when he was fighting Kree invaders of Zenn-La in one issue.]
