FASA's Star Trek RPG

Hmmm? I don't think that's right - a save is rolling under your score.
Like I said, its been a long time. But I know that there's something definitely wrong with them. Although I suppose it could have been fixed in later printings, we used the first. And, of course, I no longer have it.

Congrats on the first run.

I was more the Star Fleet Battles player. Years later, still good fun. Enough that I built some of the ships in Maya and put up videos on youtube (if you are that bored, look up magellanthecat and see for yourself).

Ah memories. We ran a lot more of the FASA Starship Combat Simulator game but we combined that with the Trek RPG quite often. Fun system if not exactly modern.

I made a character last night and was surprised at how quickly it actually went. I remember it being much more involved than it was. The only thing I didn't find a reference for was determining what your character's "destiny" was (i.e. the point at which you STOP character creation). Was that something players determined on their own? The point at which you say "OK, I'm going to make a character that is a Lt. Commander and Chief Security Officer of a Consitution-class Starship."

It's near the beginning of the chargen section (maybe in the GM's book, not sure) - but yep, you (with the GM's input) start by deciding what you're generating and then you guide the generation process towards that. In my camapign, for example, I told them all they'd be lieutenants on a scout-sized Starfleet ship.
