Yep. He's the President's Chief of Staff. Jewish, the son of a holocost survivor, and a hell of a political strategist.

Although his name struck me as amusing as well. He sounds like he'd be an action movie star.

Wait, I think you're right. Secretary of State Adler's dad was the holocost survivor.

I'm pretty sure that Arnie Van Damm is jewish, though.

I can't recall the book now, but I thought Arnie said that his father was a resistance leader (non-Jewish) who barely was able to get he and his family to the US ahead of the Nazis.

And my pick is Debt of Honor. I agree that the end of that book and the succeeding Jack Sr. books stretch things quite a bit, but I still found them enjoyable. Red Rabbit wasn't as enjoyable, as, IMO, Clancy was trying to stuff a new story in the existing time stream, and didn't mesh well. Teeth of the Tiger was fairly good, and I'm curious how (if) it will be succeeded.

I hope it is succeeded, because it ended rather suddenly, with lots of plot elements still left unresolved.

I wouldn't hold your breath, though. Tom Clancy announced a while back that Teeth of the Tiger would be his final Ryanverse novel, unless he changes his mind. So far, though, I haven't heard any rumors that he's changed his mind.

I had heard that as well. That's why I had the '(if)' in there. I do hope he changes his mind as well because it did end rather abruptly...just begging to be the first in a line of books.

I am surprised to hear that Clancy said such a thing as it was his last. The book seems to be set up for a whole new series. I mean why else go to the trouble of setting up all the characters and the new organization? I really think it screams out for some sequels.
