I know precisely what they are. An interesting variant, but alas, it is the good ol lich that remains near and dear to my heart, at least since VanRichten's Guide to same in 2e.

My favourites of course are hobgoblins in a romanesque society, and ghouls of any sort.

Dragons. All the way, dragons are my fave critter. (I've also got a soft spot for otters, but they've actually seen combat in the campaign I run, unlike things draconian.)

It's a difficult concept actually using them in combat, though... I don't believe the PCs have ever fought one over all their levels, although they've met several. It's just not right.

And that's why I love 'em... nothing says 'siddown and shuddup' like a dragon.

Illithids, they are so maliciously yummy I just love them!

Other favorites include Giants and Dragons, du to their classical nature. Whenever my players encounter one of these, it's an old-school feeling and time to run away

Not a specific monster but I love Spiders. A sorts of nasty spiders living and undead pop up in my games at all levels.

For a specific monster I love Quicklings. I use them much more often then they should actually show up both as bad guys and at times allies. But must often as annoying buzzing creatures with pointy little needle daggers. fun fun fun...
