Elves have way to many fanboi's fawning over them to be taken seriously. Dwarven women have beards. So I picked hobbits. It doesn't hurt that I have a very petite girlfriend that actually looks a lot like the 3e iconic Lidda either.

Of these three, dwarves.

From all of fantasy? I couldn't pick a favorite offhand. Giants, burmecians, moogles, clanks and jaegers, skaven, effink metul Warhammer orcs, noble savage Warcraft orcs, laguz (especially the Kilvans; Naesala ftw), even D&D's own elans - there are just too many that are awesome to pick just one.

Hobbits all the way. I'm still bitter that halflings no longer look like hobbits in D&D (note: they still do in my campaign world). Quiet village life, punctuated by good meals and lively parties really appeals to me. Plus, there's no way I could turn down a sassy hobbit lass; there's just something about those hairy bare feet that gets me going.

'obbits. No surprise there, considering I've publically harped, screamed, and foamed about their absence from the game ever since 3E was released.

Is there any surprise that the roleplaying community overwhelmingly finds empathy with short, rotund men with beards?

Hobbits just rock. Period.

Dwarves and Elves are probably my next two favourite, then Dryads and Leprechauns, followed by a big drop down to Gnomes, Orcs, Centaurs, Kender, and a bunch of other old D+D and-or classic mythology reliables.
