As a companion and counter to the Worst Purchase Ever thread... I'm curious what some of your still-used purchases are. What supplements do you still find yourself turning to for inspiration, even though the edition/system they were written for have long since past? Adventures, sourcebooks, setting guides?

For me, aside from the obvious 3.5 Eberron setting guides and supplements, I also find myself turning back to the 3.5 supplement Heroes of Horror quite a bit for inspiration.

As a DM, as I prepare a campaign:

1e: Unearthed Arcana 1e for the Barbarian, but in combination with David Howery's Dragon Magazine artilce: Tracking down the Barbarian

2e supplements: The Complete Fighter's Handbook, Complete Priest's Handbook, and Complete Thief's Handbook. I'm A Banana made it easier with his conversions of those supplement. Also, Complete Bard's Handbook, Complete Druid's Handbook, Witches (Mayfair Games)

3e: Unearthed Arcana, Shaman's Handbook (Green Ronin), Witch's Handbook (Green Ronin) Experts 3.5 (Skirmisher Press), From Stone to Steel (Monkey God Enterprises/ High Moon Media), Noble Steeds: A d20 Guide to Horses & Mounts. There are a few others that I am forgetting at the moment

Most notably, Eric Boyd's 2e Forgotten Realms deities books Faiths and Avatars, Powers and Pantheons, and Demihuman Deities. Even if the specialty priest stuff is now several editions out of date, the information on the various deities and churches of Faerun remains incredibly useful. Back in the old use.net days, I even continued the series by writing up a large number of monstrous deities in the same format (something that AuldDragon has done here as well).

I still use a large amount of 2e and 3.x Forgotten Realms accessories, depending on where I'm setting a campaign. Even being 2 - 3 editions and 100+ setting years of date, they still can be quite helpful, especially the various Volo's Guides.

My 2e Al-Qadim and Spelljammer boxes and sourceboxes still see serious use along with the Complete Book of Necromancers. I also still use From Stone to Steel, though not as often as I used to. The D20 Call of Cthulhu book and Heroes of Horror get regular workouts too.

My 2e Monstrous Manual is long gone, but I use the lomion website in the same capacity.

1e DMG
1e Dieties & Demigods
A great # of modules - BECmi-PF/5e
Any setting guides for FR, GH, etc
The spell Compendium from 3.5

1e DMG and...until I lost it...Volo's Guide to Waterdeep....I didn't run adventures in Waterdeep but I loved reading all of the business descriptions etc and drawing inspiration from them
