Favoured Soul vs. Cleric

I would even go so far to allow them to choose any spell listed on one of the deity's domains. Since they still have to learn them and do not get access to them all, anyways, and many are simply redundant, because they are cleric spells in the first place, that doesn't seem overpowering to me.
[sidetrack]That's what I'd recommend[/sidetrack]

I've recently run across those Initiate feats. Most of them list "xth Cleric lvl." as a prerequisite.
What about Favored Souls? Do they count as clerics for this purpose? I mean they are already barred from taking any divine feats due to their inability to turn/rebuke, neither are they granted acces to domains (no signature spells either).

As Thanee said in the first post, FS's can't take these. Feel free to houserule otherwise, though. :)

I think FS's are weak, mechanically anyway, especially as casters. They make better fighter-types since that way you don't have to worry about spell DCs and too many spells known.

I actually don't find that so strange... they have not studied theology or something. ;)

The only "problem" is, that Knowledge (religion) is often used as a prerequisite, which is a bit stupid not to have as a class skill then.

For example, an initiate of bane shouldn't work with ranger, you need cleric for that one. Saying "divine caster level 3" or something would let you include rangers, and even druids. They just didn't take into account a class that is like clerics in many ways. It's easy to fix.

That is like Initiate of Selune. Hathran, cleric, and ranger all qualify.

Edit: Druid too.

I still find it very strange that a FS does not have Kn (religion) as a class skill but Kn (arcana). It should be the other way around. :D

Kind regards

The sorcerer also has Knowledge (arcana), it's just the knowledge you gain as you learn to control your spellcasting. More self-education, so to say. I think that's why they have this admittedly rather weird-looking class skill list.

But it really won't hurt anyone to just add Knowledge (religion) to it. :)

I'd rather say that's spellcraft. Knowledge (arcana) is not about spellcasting, it's about magic in general, including stuff like dragons and other kinds of creatures. You don't learn that by casting magic missile over and over again...
