The spells are not so much of a difference, it's just a few more choices, but you still have to learn them. Actually adding two domain abilities would be like two bonus feats. And the FS isn't a weak class, really.

I've never really liked the wings. Certainly you can be the chosen of a deity without growing wings...? It just doesn't seem right to me.
If I were a deity, my chosen ones would certainly not have wings.

Maybe this should be house rules, but...
I think a spontaneous caster makes more sense than prepare spells, but thought Favored Soul's biggest drawback was the lack of domains. Domains are the best part of the 3e cleric class, and Favored Souls lacks access to domains.
Instead of having a spells known per level chart as the sorceror class, I would just have granted the Favored Soul all of the domains of his or her deity. Then only domain spells could be cast by the Favored Soul. I would have dropped some of the class abilities in exchange for the various domain powers.
Result: A class much more specialized towards the Deity.
I would also allow the Favored Soul access to the various Initiate feats and the various PRCs dedicated to a specific deity.

@Endur: That would make their spellcasting incredibly weak, tho. And there are deities with just 3 domains, as opposed to some with 6 or even 7.
I'd, as said above, just allow them to pick from all domain spell lists from their deity. This way, you can make the character more god-like (

True. Only making domains available, but then all the domains, will not really work.
I could see them getting three of the domains and then some more known spells. In the end, the number of known spells will be the same, but 3 of each level will be determined by domain instead of chosen freely.
