I never actually saw WH or SMcC but I had to place them just above Colin Baker who I thought was awful. I stopped watching Dr Who soon after he started his tenure.

As is the case for many Americans my first Dr. was Tom Baker and his is the face that will always spring to my mind when I think of the the good Doctor.

I'm another American whose first Doctor was Tom Baker, so he's certainly got a special place in my heart.

Without a multiple choice poll I can't vote honestly.

Troughton, Pertwee, Davison, and McCoy were all excellent in their own ways and I simply can't pick a favorite from among them. I waffle back and forth about how much I like Tom Baker. Aside from the very first episode, I don't care for William Hartnell. Colin Baker annoyed me. Paul McGann wasn't around long enough for me to have an opinion of him, and I haven't seen Christopher Eccelston yet, although he loses major points for quitting so quickly.

I did wonder whether to make it multiple choice or not, but left it with the default (single choice option) apologies to anyone that feels this wasn't helpful.

In the end I decided to leave it as TV only. If I rerun the poll as a multiple choice I'll include Peter Cushing and maybe even include Richard E. Grant for his radio version.

Too early to say. The second episode of the new series just finished, and Eccleston is really growing on me. I don't know if he'll beat Tom Baker in my affections, though - I'll give it a few more episodes before I decide.

Yes, I've been very impressed with Chris so far. Loved his cluelessness in "Rose" with the Ferris Wheel.

IMO, it's too bad he's already stepped down.

Also if he was the first one seen in the US and there is a lot of US ENworlders, that would increase his exposure too.
