Feat and spells for 9th level

I'm currently playing a warforged wizard 7/Effigy Master 2. We levelled up last night and so I'm looking for a feat for 9th level, as well as two 4th level spells.

Right now I have the following feats: 1st Arcana Articulation (house feat to get rid of 5% miscasting chance), 1st scribe scroll, 3rd, craft wondrous items, 5th Empower Spell, 6th Spontaneous Casting.

I'm thinking Energy Substitution, as that was half of my reason for taking Empower Spell (as a prereq).

For spells I'm thinking Repair Critical Damage, but that leaves a 2nd spell.

Please list the source book for anything not in the PHB.

Thanks :)

Are there any other spellcasters in the party? It's always useful to pick spells to fill holes left by others' choices, and vice versa.

From just the PHB, I'd go for Dimension Door and Evard's Black Tentacles.

Feat:

Extraordinary Artisan (ECS). If you plan to build lots of items/creatures.

Spells:

Greater invisibility. Nice buff for both you and your effigy creature.

Repair critical damage is a good spell for you, but if you have repair serious damage or repair moderate damage I wouldn't bother with it just yet. (Most of the repair comes from your caster level.)

Dimension door perhaps?

What is the source of the Spontaneous Casting feat?

The Eberron main book. Basically you can spend 2 action points and swap out a spell you memorized for one you didn't memorize.

Repair Crit Dam would be useful because I only have Repair Light Damage and at this point being able to heal myself and the effigy for more than a few points is going to be handy.

I like Dimension Door, but I'm worried it'll spoil the DM's plans. On the other hand, it is a prereq for crafting a Cape of the Mounteback. Evard's Black Tentacles is a hassle, but powerful, maybe too powerful.

Keep em coming! :D

Repair: good. But you'd be better off taking craft wand and making a wand of Repair light for yourself, and not worrying about it too much. Chances are anything that you can't kill quickly will probably kill you quickly anyways. Which leads to #2...

#2 - Dimension door: Spoil his plans? That is your job as a player! DM's have to learn to cope with higher level magic, they can't just arbitrarily ignore certain spell types because they don't like them and can't adjust. (Well, they can actually, I just think its a bad idea) TAKE DIMENSION DOOR.

#3 - Evards is very good indeed. Which is why you should take it. You'll probably only get 1 casting of it a day.

Orb of Force from Complete Arcane is nice.

Don't worry about spoiling your DM's plans. As the players begin to gain access to teleportation magics, the game changes a bit, but that's normal.

For a feat, Sudden Maximize (pg. 28 Miniatures handbook), Craft Wand, and Energy Substitution are all tempting - might have to go with Craft Wand to keep you and your Effigy grinding along, though. Plus, Craft Wand means you can memorize something other than Repair Light Damage as your main reliance spell (since your wand will have that covered). I really like Sudden Maximize for its "I need max results, this Fireball is *important*" spot coverage of a critical spell.. perhaps wait until later, though.

Spells: Greater Invisibility and Evard's Black Tentacles are both superb. You'll be keeping an eye out for Teleport and Permanency as 5th level spells to grow into, although Feeblemind is a nice little one-shot takedown and would not be amiss.

Happy hunting. :)
